I wanted to know if anyone had any good locations for cheap oil changes?
I just got my car last Saturday and i wanted to change the oil and the Mitsubishi dealership wanted to charge 115$ for synthetic .
My gf has a G35 that takes synthetic oil and she only paid 44$ at her infinity dealer :?. I live in Fremont so maybe someone can point me in the right direction? :peewee:

I think San Leandro Mitsubishi is doing some specials to get business.

I have no clue about the service department or how bad they are though.

if your too lazy to do your own oil change to save money, then you can see if the chevy dealership across from us will honor their price for non chevy vehicles... they advertise a $5 oil change :P

prolly penzoil mixed with some china filter, but hey, you asked for cheap

It's drain oil, start car and 2step for 30 seconds to get remaining oil out, then proceed to fill her up. Keep the stock filter till your 60k service.

:dumas: ahahahahahahahaha

but seriously. just get yourself a factory oil filter and drain plug gasket, a 6 pack of mobil 1, a 6 pack of heineken & a fatty, oil filter wrench, 14mm(i believe, i work on too many cars) for the drain plug, and a container to catch old oil in.

Channel Lock makes a real nice oil filter pliers, you can find it at home depot. I think it was ~$10.

serious note to the OP!

if you used to do it to your 240 before...you should be able to change it in your car now

but just in case...

you'll need (oil filter (w/ washer), full synthetic motor oil, and basic tools)

1. warm up oil and let it sit for a few minutes
2. with oil cap unscrewed, remove drain plug with a pan underneath...be careful oil might
be too hot for your delicate hands!
3. secure drain plug and don't lose it!
4. remove oil filter with bare hands...use tools if too weak
5. have a few beers while waiting for oil to drain...making sure most of the oil is drained
6. replace oil filter with new washer and drain plug...both just a little past hand tight
7. pour about 4.5 quarts of oil in to engine...NOT ON THE ENGINE...in the hole where the
oil cap was
8. put back oil cap...start car...idle for a minute or two...drive around ur block...go back home...park...and check
oil level through dip stick...refill accordingly!

yah that's why it's referred as "stealership"...if you don't have any space to do it like most people here...i suggest you buy the parts and then have a local trusted shop to do it...like Speed Element or GST!

A lot cheaper and you will have the peace of mind that it is done RIGHT!

EvoSinIX

i think ill keep that in mind, i know speed element is in Fremont/Union City so ill check them out. 8)

the stealership will charge you that price b/c its like $10 a qt. for there full synthetic oil. thats where they take your money.

so do your own oil changes and save yourself some $$$$.
