This is my first Evo and everything is new to me. First thing I noticed was the 1st and 2nd gears were bit notchy and hard to get in. I spoke to Devin at Speed Element and he said it's pretty common for Evo.

So I stopped by today and Devin suggested that I change my tranny fluid with some kind of cocktail mix. Not sure what the actual mix is, I'll let Dev chime in... All I have to say is that I am glad that I did and it's so damn smooth now! :) I didn't want to stress the synchors so much that I eventually start grinding the synchors.

Thanks Dev and the SE crew! :)

Oh and I picked up the Perrin short anntana while I was at it. It look so much better now. Will pickup some air filter later as well... :)

Get the Blox engine roll stopper, it'll make shifting more smooth too.

The front engine mount for the X is in development right now. Hopefully we will receive them in Jan. 2009 for some testing and review.

Stay tuned!

Congrats Leo on the 10. :)

The 10 trans does feel like crap at first, new fluid and more miles seems to do the trick. :)

FYI, HKS drop in gains approx 15-20whp

Congradulations.....So the X's have a notchy trans too. My IX with 25 K miles is still notchy and I have been through a fluids change already. Did make for a better feel after the change. After it warms up after a few miles it gets better too. I have heard that the syncros that Mitsu uses have had issues and there are upgraded ones that perform better. I am not disliking it enough to yank the trans yet to upgrade but I am sure it will be in my future plans. Have fun with your new purchase.

Leo,

We used Redline MT90, MTL, and BG II. WE normally use this for street cars.

For the Track Guys... We used 2xMT90, and MTL on our T/A car.

Thanks

Get a clear bra and remember to get the rear fender coverage too, it will get chipped up from rocks.

i love it keep it chip free... but I don't like the look of clear bra on the car... :(

Well, it's one or the other. I had a clear bra for 3 years on the old Evo. After 3 years it still looked brand new where the bra covered it. No chips or scratches.

It is the best investment if you want to keep your car looking new. It's barely noticeable. I can use sealants on it just like paint. Just have to be careful with claying and using the orbital - Need to tape off the edges of the bra.

haha... yeah, I am definitely going to hit the track with it once it's broken in.... Then i'll decide what to do in terms of mods... even then, I think suspension will have to come first. Not sure if I am going to need brakes just yet. But most likely a separate set of wheels tires for track and keep the stocker for DD.

one at a time... :)

Before hitting the track, get a set of SS brakelines installed and bring an extra set of good pads. :book1:
