While on my way to go kick it with some buddies down in Sunnyvale I took some shots on the way. General I always shoot iso 200 and rarely go higher than 400. My D50 is pretty noisey above 400. I did some noise reduction in CS3 on all images except for the shot of the cluster.

Any know this BMW with a personal plate "LINGLING" from the track? They appear to be using a retuired ambulance as a tow vehicle :eyecrazy: That's pretty cool!

This one was my favorite shot during my trip.

ouch man thats absolutely brutal. That was the tipping factory for my when I was looking. Even my 20d was less noisy then a d200... once you hit the d300 though they are pretty sweet. My 40D is real surprising actually. I dont hesitate to shoot at 800+ now.

I picked up more noise just before our trip to New Zealand last year when I cleaned the sensor myself with a sensor swab. I NEVER used to see noise when shooting blue skies at iso 400 until I cleaned my sensor. My camera was solid up to iso 800. I hate noise! I'd like to pick up a D300. Some things have... come up that are more than likely going to prevent me from getting one anytime soon.

40D at iso 1250, f/4 hand held at 1/25. No noise reduction done, only sharpening.

Nono, I forgot what it is.. turn the shutter to the shortest and it'll give you some latter for ISO.. I forgot what it is, though.

It says H1.o on my ISO screen when I turn it all the way up.

It goes.. 100, 200.. to 1000, 1250, 1600, Ho.3, Ho.7 - up to H1.o - I have no idea what the H stands for.

Edit, it has nothing to do with shutter.. nevermind my previous post. It was made early in the morning. :p

umm do you mean it goes up 100 until 1000 or does it skip from 200 to 1000? If it does, theres something wrong.

Sfkn2

Nah, it doesn't skip. It goes up gradually but hits that H thing at the highest setting.

on my canon H is 3200. IMO unless it's a informative shot and you don't care fore quality, and/or your looking to add noise for effect, 3200 is useless. You'll never get decent IQ out of it.

Yeah, that's why my firework shots look like crap. I took it at Disneyland without a tripod.

Dave did you try correcting the exposure in post processing? If so, that will create more noise on a image then what the original exposure produced.

Nah I didn't mess with the exposure on these one's. I noticed that on some other experimental shots.

Gotcha.. Next time I would try a higher ISO with a faster shutter speed, 1/30th is quite slow in a moving vehical [makes it look blurry]. Also did you leave it in Auto or Manuel focus?

I was in manual mode with auto focus. I was going for the blurred motion look with the lane I was cruising in. I have decent lens but now I want to upgrade my body big time.

Hey, were you able to pick up another 5D set up?
