Played around with HDR today. Here is the outcome. Any advice?

Question: For HDR do you alter the shutter speed or the exposure compensation?

1: (wish i had my car or something in the background, as its kinda bland)

I alter the exposure.. -2, 0, +2 usually.

Your pics look pretty good - I like it.

The first shot is great. The pattern of the wood on the side of the building is crazy.

Wish I could play around with HDR but, and don't laugh too hard, I'm still using Photoshop 7. :(

You can alter either or for HDR. I think it's a bit easier to bracket for exposure. I'm not sure if your D40 has the bracketing feature built in.

On the D300, you can set it to bracket however many exposures you want and click away. So, say 5 exps (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2), you just fire it off 5 times and it do it all for you. The more exps, the higher level of ranges. Within reasonable amount of course. Don't go take 30 exposures now! hehe.

D40 =no auto bracketing feature. Thanks.
