Good luck guys, shouldn't be too horrible. Just make sure you have all of the right tools handy. Got an impact wrench? razor blade? Those are the only things I can remember other than "ordinary" tools that are necessary.

What kinda turbo's are ya'll installing? Here's stuff I like to have on hand for a swap:
Beer
music
Chilton's/Haynes manual or on-line car manual
oil/drain pans for oil and coolant
anti-sieze for any exhaust mani/turbo bolt
PB Blaster
RTV ultra black (for oil for AN fittings on turbo/oil pan)
electrical tape (to tape up AN lines in preperation to be cut)
Dremel w/cut off wheel (to cut the AN lines at the proper length)
new oil/coolant
gloves
shop towels
towel to protect the cars paint from scratches etc.
double check you have all your tools/turbo parts
jack/jack stands/ramps
creeper
torque wrench
extra stash of mitsu metric bolts
new gaskets
boost leak tester
patience
Even though it was made for your car it doesn't always act like it at first during the initial install:love:. Good luck!, it'll be worth it:icon_smile_driving:.

Good luck guys.
Don't forget to bring the socket for O2 sensor, it will save you a lot of time.
You can pretty much re-use all gaskets except the ones for oil return line. Those are like a paper.

What time do you guys start? I might stop by to say hi.

That exhaust manifold looks like a work of art.

it sure is, fits perfect without any issues whatsoever...i believe its made by full race. only problem we had was figuring out how to install the o2/housing/downpipe on the turbo while the manifold/turbo is in the engine bay.

dl_EVO
01-12-2009, 04:32 PM
I don't want to hold you guys back because I've never done this type of install on an EVO before.

Are you sure I can come?

steevo8
01-12-2009, 04:53 PM
Hey Sam if you run into any snags feel free to give me a call. What all are you installing on your car?

dl_EVO
01-12-2009, 04:59 PM
How many cars need to be worked on?

There is only about 9 hours of daylight, do you think that's enough time to work on 2 cars?

steevo8
01-12-2009, 05:09 PM
Lmao nine hours should be more then enough time to do two cars if there's no snags. Personally I would start spraying penatrating lube on stuff now. Like every night till the install. One broken bolt can make your life hell and if it's a 03 with the oem turbo that's never been taken off, it's pretty rare not to have an issue.

noypiC50
01-12-2009, 05:39 PM
I'm gonna start spraying stuff with pb blaster starting tonight, thanks for the offer Steve and keep your phone on LOL . We didn't finish my turbo swap yesterday so we'll resume this weekend.
dl_Evo - we can do yours but you gotta bring us beer! Let me know if you coming, do you have all necessary parts ie gaskets, oil, coolant etc ?

dl_EVO
01-12-2009, 05:42 PM
I have gaskets for Exh. manifold to head, Exh. Manifold to Hotside, Gasket between hotside and o2.. do I need anything else?

I have OEM coolant..

I need oil? I have a whole bunch, but I didn't know I needed it.

I can bring beer, what kind of beer do you guys want?
