ok, so i have 35k miles on my evo and the local dealership says i need a new set of brake pads and they want to charge me $800 for the pads+labor.

my evo is a daily driver only. i have been looking at alternative performance pads like endless vita nuova and ferodo ds-2500. there isn't a clear favorite between the two :? .

so i have two questions -

1) for anybody who has experienced both, which did you like best - considering noise, brake dust and wear?

&

2) who has the best deal on these brake pads+labor?

any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

thanks, joe

I've never tried the Vita Nuovo, but I have used the Endless SS-S pads. I have driven on the DS2500s only once, but I thought they were decent, but didn't seem to have the cold bite that I was used to from the Endless SS-S pads.

Take a look at Hawk HPS. Cheaper alternative and great pad for daily driving

Personally I like the DS2500's, I have them on my evo now. Can't compare since I never used the other pads. I got my pads (front and rear) from http://www.raceshopper.com/
As for labor, do it your self, it is as easy as changing your oil.

I have the Ferodo DS2500s and am very satisfied with them. Improvement over the stock pads was marked; they do make a bit of noise, some squeaking and occasional squeal under light braking. I already have a second set ready to go on the car when the first set wears out (probably after this weekend  ). RaceShopper.com has the best price on these; go to their site or call them for a quote. MPJ Performance has them for $270 (full set), I believe RaceShopper is even cheaper. They may not be the best out there (and "best" depends on your particular application) but for the price, you can't get any better.

There are a couple of write-ups on EvoM about changing brake pads:

One thing I would add: it's much easier to push the brake pistons open if you open the bleed valve next to the piston(s) you're pushing--so change your brake pads and bleed your brakes in one job.

I'm sure Works Rally can assist you with Endless pads, I know they are in stock.
