View Full Version : INVIDIA VS TITEK

hi everyone,
I just wanted to get your opinions or your personal experience as far as which 02 housing you think is the better one ?? and details please ;)

Both are good. Invidia is a little more expensive since it is a cast piece.

Personally I am all about maximizing every modification so I went with the Titek V2 for 3 reasons: It is lightweight, has little separation from the WG outlet to the turbo outlet, and is the largest unit out there barring a dump tube. I chose to elliminate the seperation because it was causing a boost creep issue with my Megan 02 which had the seperation. Comparatively to the invidia which is slightly smaller overall, maintains the seperation, and is a heavy cast piece. The seperation and WG opening to the turbo outlet is far superior than the Megan piece so I am sure it would have solved the creep issue as well. But like I said I liked that it was lighter.

Cons of the SS over the cast piece, I see that the metal of the SS expands and contracts at different rates than the iron turbo hotside causing the bolts to back out and leak exhaust. However, since I switched to the Titek V2 from my Megan O2 and used new gaskets and bolts, I haven't experienced this issue.

^^ cornercarver: I read somewhere from Bryan at GST that the Titek V2 piece is quite good, so I'm assuming you like them as well? All that's needed would be the new gaskets & bolts for a trouble-free install, based on what you had posted correct? Sorry for being such a noob....

yep, changing o2 is not an easy task. Liquid wrench will help with those stubborn bolts. Most of the time one bolt will cross thread and need to be retapped.
Also your 02 sensor may or may not be cross threaded. One more thing remove your radiator for the install it will be easier with it out in the way, other then that it's easy.

Titek is a quality piece.

titek is a few more bux however it works
megan is cheaper however its a hit and miss

lets put it this way, get a megan for 150-180.... it fails
buy a titek for 240
total spent: ~350 for a titek

or just spend 240 for a titek

i have a megan and right now its going good but when i go e85 or bigger turbo thats when i'll be regretting it

good point, but my questions is im shooting for no more than 330 WHP on 100 octane but it will be mostly on 91 octane. anyways, Im wondering to see for that much power which is not really too much of a power do I still need either one of these or any after market brand should do it ? thanks. cuz 240 seems kind of expensive lol

to add to that,
where can i get a good deal as far as installing the o2 SE charges 300 just for the installation :(.

yeah, I'm gonna go with them for sure, their price is way more reasonable than any other places. its like $400+ saving by going to them, and that's a HUGE saving right there.

thanks tho ;)

stock

oh so for my set up which is going to be TBE, ported exhaust manifold, HKS 272cams, 750 injectors, 255 fuel pump. AEM air filter, niesi intercooler, lower intercooler piping, white rabbit turbo.... I should stay with stock 02 housing ?

cornercarver

Your stock 02 housing is better than a Megan.

Note to anyone who purchased a Megan:

Port the hole which blends into the turbo outlet before you install. That is what causes the boost creep.

The 02 housing is really for those who want to try and extract every bit of bolt-on power they can get.

I didn't really notice anything when I installed mine. Maybe slightly better spool, but definitely louder.

Scott(whitrice) said he didn't notice anything from the 02 either, but the dyno showed a small gain. I can't compare mine since I do bulk mods and tune for them at one time.

Sent you a PM BTW.

Yes. So far the stock 02 is good for almost 400whp on our mustang dyno. The 02 does help with flow though and is a good foundation for the flow upgrade path, but is more a "while it's off" upgrade. Meaning, if you have the turbo off for some reason, might as well slap a good tubular 02 housing on it before it goes back on.

yes you can skip that, if you dont mine doing all that work again next time.. for me if you have the $$$ to get the Titek, i would get it and install it while the turbo was out (just like what Bryan said)... but if you dont, you also be fine, cause you'll maxed out that turbo easy for sure anyways ;)

Thinking about it. Just wondering if it would be cheaper to get it ported and may work as well as titek than buying a titek. I might also stop by sometime tomorrow, I have few tuning questions.
