View Full Version : Pat's Evo 9 goes to Infineon for Wed Night Drags

Made a trip out to the track after putting in the 5point bar and switching to 1450's and E85.

Was just going to make a few passes to fine tune and log info and had some good and bad news.

I was one of the first 20 cars and the 10th car oiled down the track for an hour http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:forums.evolutionm.net/get/images/smilies/crap.gif

Finally got to make a pass and the car left a little soft and was making a decent pass but for some reason my gutt said to lift in 4th gear http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:forums.evolutionm.net/get/images/smilies/dunno.gif

Get back to the pits and shut her down and then i see coolant coming from the front timing assembly area so i think the water pump said goodbye http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:forums.evolutionm.net/get/images/smilies/frown.gif

The over flow was not filled and the tube itself totally dry. Car never overheated and logs showed normal coolant temps however i did have the heater blowing after the pass which i do every time possibly masking the rising temps???

The car did run a personal best (not by much lol) but does give me great hope to get the car deep into the 10's w/ a possible 9 sec pass in the near future.........

Enough w/ the excuses here is the breakdown:

Temp - 79*
Hum - 51
Baro - 30.00

60' - 1.609
330' - 4.400
660' - 6.717 @ 104.20
1000' - 8.721
1320' - 10.435 @ 125.25

I'll have a video and slip up soon!

Gotta get a water pump and some lift time......oh well next time!

Well then you are missing out my friend however i must say it'sa lot more fun being in the driver's seat :sprint:

You should try and come on out to a Wed night even at Infineon on if you don't mind the trek to Sac-Town for some Grudge nights and tnt's.

Ahhh man my bad Russ didn't mean to leave you out on the fun.......wasn't much to watch just one pass and a whole lot of waiting for track clean-up :embarassed:

It was cool to see some of the nice rides out though ie. Tesla electric car, SC 300 built for drag action, a nice Z06 on ccw drag wheels w/ an ati procharger!

Nice run I saw it in person I was in a wingless apex sliver 8, thanks to the guys from fftec giving me tips on how to launch my car I was doing really bad until I made 13.8 pass still need more seat time since it was my first time at the track with the evo. Hey pat Im waiting for my next check and I'll be setting a time to get a tune and install couple of things very soon.

That was actually just a borrowed HKS unit from a buddy's car as i didn't want to get booted for noise violation.......there was a black turbo bmw that was booted just for how loud his 2-step/anti-lag was sitting at the light!

Ya still gotta tear into it this week to find out what exactly it was.

The 1450's are doing great so far but only have run them on E85 not 91.

UPDATE!

Well it ended up being the water pump.......it was leaking from the weep hole.

Gunna get her back together tomorrow afternoon.

Hope to be racing next Wed!
