Just got some 17X9 wheels, and want to get some 255 tires, but I'm not sure if it will rub or not. I searched around here, and on evom, and didn't really find much to answer my question. I plan on lowering the car in a couple months, I just want to make sure no rubbing will happen. So, anyone using a 255 tire on a stock, or modified suspension set up?

I will be ordering new tires on saturday.

what offset are the rims? for some reason tire design can make a difference with it also, ive read people who had 255's and it didint rub and some have rubbing issues.

on 17x8.5 +40 off set theres no problems (even with the car lower )
some fender work might be required. (rolling your fenders, to make sure you have enough clearance)

The tire should fit if the wheel does. That tire won't have a very big sidewall bubble on that wide of a rim.

Has anyone tryied 275/35 17 on 17x8's for clearance on the EVO?

Do y'all mean on the EVO or at all :?: ; 'cause I had that combo on the rear of my truck so I know it'll fit.

a 275 is way too wide for a 17x8 wheel. It *might* fit but it's gonna suck balls and even be dangerous.

Since when does a truck have anything to do with an evo anyway.

Off set is 40. I'm still not sure wethe to go with 255, or 245. Like I said, I do plan on lowering it, so on stock height, it might be fine, but then I get coilovers and it could go all bad. I'm leaning towards 245, but I would like that extra grip.

I run a 275/40/17 on a 17x9 +35mm rim. I'll drive on the street with r-compounds on. I have dropped my EVO ~1.5 inchs in front, and ~1 inch in the rear. It rubs when the steering is at full lock to where I have polished my end cover on the tranny. If I were to do it again, I would go with a +30 or +32 offset rim for the clearance in the front. The rear is not so bad.

The 255's will fit, but I think your offset is a bit off. +40mm is a bit extreme even for a 255. Just be careful when you drop it, you will no doubt rub on something at that point.
