WORKS Ralliart in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill

The WORKS Ralliart did very well in its shake down Thursday and Friday at Thunderhill. The upgraded South Side Performance SST transmission held up great and the car is performing up to standards. Although it looks like it will be a rain free event we are hoping for at least some sprinkles to allow the Ralliart's AWD to become an advantage over our competition. Look for updates here on NorCalEvo.net as the race progresses. We will keep you guys informed on the car's current position and condition as well as any other news worthy incidents or stories as they arise.

Sorry for no recent updates guys. The internet connection at the track is not that great and has been so hit or miss that I couldn't even get a small one line post out.

The car did very well its first 4 hours, at about 4 hours and 30 minutes into the race one of our drivers had no brake pedal which caused the car to leave the track. The car was not damaged and was brought into the pits for a check up. Only to see that the front brake pads were gone. When attempting to change the pads we noticed that there was more of an issue than just pad wear. Due to excessive heat the pistons in the calipers welded themselves to the back of the pads. This would have sent a lot of teams home, but at WORKS we have a go until it doesn't run anymore attitude towards racing. So we had some new pistons made and borrowed one from TRG (The Racers Group) Racing. With the new pistons in and new pads on the car we refueled and went back on track. A few laps later another one of our drivers noticed the water temperature was through the roof, so we brought the car in to find out why all the sudden we had so much extra heat. The radiator was bare, we are not sure at this time why, but that will be investigated in the weeks to come. We do not think that the radiator failed, but we cannot be certain just yet. We filled the radiator back up with water and tried to restart the car only to hear the sound nobody wants to hear when they try and start their car, the sound of no compression. The WORKS pit crew went to work again to try and salvage the car; starting with a compression test. The test results were conclusive, the motor was done. With no luck in finding a quick fix to a problem that was internal we decided to call it quits at around 8pm.
