You should probably get a baseline just to see if your future hard earned money is getting you anywhere. Just make sure you are consistent with which dyno you use.

Here are my three runs:

05 EVO MR. Fuel pump / safc / turboback / mbc @1.3bar holding.

Pull 1: off the street with only about 45mins of me installing and tuning the SAFC really fast last night.
250awhp / 246awtq
AFR was off the charts rich up top.

Pull 2: Fiddled with SAFC quick:
261awhp / 236awtq
Ran a tad lean in the midrange which hurt my tq.

Pull 3: Fiddled with SAFC some more to bring back torque:
258awhp / 242 awtq
Much better.

Overall I am pretty happy in the car with the small amount of mods and my quick 45min ghetto safc tune and still running rich. Anybody know what a stock evo does on the gruppe-s dyno?

vishnu_evo8s car made 315 with a HUGE boost leak. it was only on 22psi and its supposed to be on 28... so do the math.

our friends sti made 357.

They were both running 100 octane maps, healthy all the same.

and the lowest dyno of the day goes to me at 203whp with tons of knock and pulled timing, with turboback 02 housing, full ic piping, walbro 255, fpr, safcII, avcr at 1.4~1.35mmhg, cam gears(0,0)


I did some safcII research.. my car was tuned taking out -4 -7 -9 -13 -15 -17 -19 -20 -22 (around that general curve..) hi low 25 40 :shock: according to anything i read this is just insanity. People dont run -12 on 93 octane and it was being leaned out to -22? I changed everything back adding fuel down low and slight as torque rises then started taking fuel out right as peak torque hits. hi low 50 75 (per malibu jack).. car leans out to -9 at 7000rpm. im gonna go for a test drive. :?

For what its worth... My 3rd pull today ( 258awhp / 242 awtq) was with 6800 / 7000 and 7600 set at -11 and I was still a little rich. My 4k/5k settings where in the single digits.

Sounds like your safc was set for larger injectors.

I would do a compression check. How long have you been running with those settings???

When i was getting tuned we definately determined something was wrong.. the car put donw 221 and was at 11.3 with the those settings. The plugs were definately fouled and swapped out to -1 NGK iridium and the car felt way better with no more backfires, popping or hestitation, i put the stock bov back in (easier for my driveway) and removed the halman mbc for the avc-r It was Td into the BOV line before.. i rewired it to the turbine and i notice that the wires coming from the intake was rerouted back to the boost controll solenoid and possibly venting there..I double check eveything which is now definately right.

i felt like something was causing an intake leak or the wastegate to open early.. i was also pulling a wastegate malfunction code(pulled it time after time whenever i got on it). That code has not come back after putting the avcr in. so it seems like whatever was causing the car to run rich(leaky intake) was fixed.. and the i became crazy lean. Damn.. i wasnt even looking to make big numbers.. i just wanted to see the car making conservative power and a good A/F so i can autocross.


I redid the boost controller 2 weekends ago.. so i was running like this for more then 2 weeks and wasnt really taking it to redline.

Yeah, I got the works reflash. My AFRs were in the 11.2:1 range w/ a spike to 11.6:1 around 6300 rpm. How did gbpkr's AFR curve look like?

I think there is still more in the car in its current state just by looking at my AFR graph that looks like a nervous snake and my boost that only touches on 20 psi for about 1k revs then drops to 1.3

Too bad I will never know since the 720's are going in soon. Watch out cammed and reflashed people!

Bone Stock 05.... 225 awhp.

Any other stock 05's dyno today? Sounds like yours was pretty healthy.

I came early and left before most everyone else showed up. Totally stock MR. I put down 218.8 HP @ 6500rpm and 229.7 ft-lbs @ 3500rpm on my best run. Now I can start modding.

That's why they dyno the MR's in 4th. So if anything the dyno #'s might be a tad low. We did do a 3rd gear pull as well and the numbers where approx +/- 5.

Btw the 720's are in now. My butt dyno is showing very favorable results so far. :twisted:

damn.. 314.. that sucks.. I didnt know my exhaust leak was that bad. Shiv told me i was loosing 4-5 lbs of boost and that i would have made arround 350 whp. I suck at life.

Probably a boost leak that was causing you to run rich. Now that you fixed that, the car is actually see all that extra air.

here is the only thing i noticed when i took the mbc out. There was an mbc in the car when i bought it that i didnt not know about. It was hooked up kinda funny. i tried doing it from underneath(big mistake) and ended up leaving what was done already alone., so i touched nothing but capped the turbo nipple, Td the bov line and ran to the wastegate. When I installed the avcr I noticed the intake nipple vacumm was routed back to the boost control solenoid and the other end was capped. i removed all these and capped them all and ran from turbin to wastegate actuator... i did nothing else, but there was a noitcable difference. I believe i pulled an overboost code and something about a wategate malfunction. since the intake line was going back to the boost control solenoid is it possible the ecu was doing something funny as a result of me exceeding stock boost parameters?.. probably not i guess... was it just bleeding to the atmosphere or something?
