Has anyone bought any new racing pedals for their Evo? I saw the Mitsubishi ones and they looked pretty decent, but I was wondering if anyone had seen or bought pedals that they like or would recommend instead of the Mitsu ones.

Here are what the Mitsu ones look like:

As you may (or apparently, may not :)) remember, I installed pedals from Autovation (http://www.autovation.net/) in my Evo:

Notice how the throttle is flared out--this is to facilitate heel-and-toe downshifting. I don't think the Mitsubishi ones do much of anything except look cool and add a bit of grip.

A couple notes: the pedals I have are $104 at autovation.net, though I think I paid $79 on eBay for the set. This is more expensive than many other brands but it includes the footrest and was specifically designed for the Evo and fits nicely.

Also note a lot of the cheaper pedals out there kinda just clip on to your existing pedals. I removed the rubber covers off the brake and clutch pedals to install these ones; the throttle and footrest go over the existing plastic pedals. For the throttle I think this helps heel-toe a bit because it makes the throttle a bit closer to being level with the brake pedal.

Ooh footrest aka dead pedal? Gotta love the Evo8 logo on the pedals.

I've been eyeing the Mitsu ones along with the matching dead pedal the guy on EVOm is making. A vendor had some Ralliart ones that looked nice as well, but didn't have a dead pedal to match. Tam mentioned staying away from the "clamp on" style and after having a set many moons ago, I agree ;)

"Footrest" = "dead pedal".

The only slightly tricky bit about installation was drilling the holes for the clutch and brake pedal covers. The holes go pretty close to the edge of the pedals so I had to be careful to line up the covers before I drilled, to not put a hole too close to the edge. If I had to do it over again I would make myself a template out of paper to make this easier. Another nice thing about the Autovation pedals is that the throttle is curved to exactly match the curvature of the factory pedal.

ModACar (http://www.modacar.com/) has a decent selection of pedals; look for pedals that "require drilling".

I agree also with those "clamp-on" ones. I bought one for one of my cars and after a while when I was driving it got loose and fell off......very dangerous.

i got both the factory pedals and shift knob from mitsu. i like them both alot. i left the white "holey" thing-a-ma-jig out of my brake and clutch pedals for the heck of it. looks cleaner that way. it can get a lil' slippery though when it rains and your soles are wet. juss wipe dry!

yea those holes in the brake/clutch are a PITA to drill. but now my interior looks much better, IMO.

i paid $55 for my pedals at stevens creek mitsu, $94 for my shift knob.

ps, i dont have any problem heel/toe with my pedals, juss fyi :wink:

Thanks. Do a search for "lancer racing pedals" on Ebay; I think that's how I found them...

Those are sweet looking pedals MR SPARKLE :wink:

Only problem would be the install. Think you could handle that? The drilling part that is.
Speaking of drilling, that reminds me of a quote from that game Grand Theft Auto (at least I think that's the game - Jan would know) where the chick says "I'm bored - When ya gonna drill me?" :lol:
