Anybody have one? Whats your experience with it? I read it has a little bit more lag, but spools faster. Is this true? I just want some opinions on it, can you guys help?

Thanks in advance!

more lag but spool faster?? doesn't make sense..
What I heard is it spool faster and make a little bit more power up top

At least that is what I got from a website! It says increased lag, but from the lighter compressive wheel it spools faster. Im confused! More power, in like how much? estimated.

Faster spool (less lag) due to the Ti Wheel, larger hot side (10.5 square cm vs. 9.8) than the 03-04 USDM turbo, meaning more flow. Still a "twin scroll", and the same mounting points, and virtually identical from the outside, so it utilizes your stock manifold, etc. A good idea (I am going that direction!) if you don't want to step way up to a big $$ turbo kit.

Thanks Jeremy, I have been looking at for a while, but how more power can you get from this tuned and untuned? Just wondering if its worth the money.

Man, they had a sale going for that turbo for $900 a few months back too. Now the price is super high. I'm not sure if the faster spool is worth an extra $1000 over upgrading just to the 10.5 cm^2 turbine housing..

I mean, all the 05s come w/ the 10.5cm turbine housing w/ the standard exhaust wheel and shaft. The 10.5cm turbine housing will be my next mod. Hopefully I can catch up with all the 05s. ;)

This is probably what you are talking about....

It definately spool up faster. It made aprox 20 peak whp extra on the gruppe-s dyno (you might see less if you don't have cams), but I also ported/coated the stock o2 and manifold (i doubt it made too much difference).
The torque curve is higher through out the entire rpm band (3k-redline).
Everything bolts right in, but you will need new gaskets for the oil/water lines, exhaust manifold and o2 housing.

I paid $900 for it and got $300 for my stock turbo, overall, it was a nice up grade for only $600.

I think it is worth it, IMHO.

not if you look into purchasing a 3071R turbo kit (give and take for around $1700.00) using stock manifold. You can make near 375whp on 91 octane with SAFC . Once you use EMS for tuning you can see a bit over 400wHP on 91 octane.

For 800.00 i can see how good of a deal a TME 6.5 can be, but some of the prices that some peeps are asking for or sites (near 1100.00 ) not worth it IMO.
You can purchase it from www.Dyno4mance.com or www.Buschurracing.com for 950.00/975.00
for a bit more of HP and TQ around 20whp/30tq (which for a turbo upgrade is not much)

that's awesome. I have been looking (drolling actually) at this turbo for a while now.

Couldnt you get a 10.5 hotside and O2 housing and almost get 20 whp?

the difference between the TME and the hotside its just the titanium shaft and wheel (for faster spool) besides from that you shouldn't see any actual gains.

3071 will definately give you more hp, but it will suffer a little on low end torque. With tme 6.5 turbo, you get stock like torque curve and it's very streetable.

For the 20whp gain, it's peak whp gain. You have to look at the area under the curve to see the benifit of the ti wheel/shaft. You can probably gain 20 peak whp with just the 10.5 hotside alone.... but the gain in the lower rpm range will not be as much.

I like he faste spool-up and better midrange aspects of the TME. I am not trying to build a 400hp monster anyway. This is my DD car :D

so am I, but after trying out Mark's Evo, you want a turbo kit that will give you over 50whp increase.

that's good to know. I don't want to lose anymore low end torque than I have too. With the autocrossing, that low end torque is more important than the overall Hp increase.

Let me tell you, the low end power of the TME 6.5Ti is not to be taken lightly! Here are two dyno graphs of evos with basically identical mods both on race fuel on the same dyno. One has the "spools like stock" BR440, the other has the 10.5 TME Ti. Which one do you think would be faster?

Vishnu Stage 1++ (TME 6.5):

Buschur Stage IV with BR440:

By the way, my almost new TME 6.5 Ti Turbo is for sale for only $775. I'm going BIGGGG. 2.3 liter stroker with 35r turbo. That is why it is for sale.

they could be referring to the fact that transient boost response on a 10.5 isn't as good as on a 9.8 becuase the extra diameter lets some air by. it does indeed spool faster and make more power, and more importantly can be tuned for more.

I have one on my 6 tme

Less lag, spools quicker, I smile longer

A big improvement on the standard turbo if you can get hold of one I would recommend it
