Here are a few pages I found (through Google) on learning to drive stick:
http://www.jonko.com/articles/kyle_busch_03.htm
http://www.10w40.com/individual/100186.asp
http://www.allsands.com/HowTo/drivestickshif_tok_gn.htm

Find a friend with a manual-tranny car who's willing to teach you and/or let you practice. Or if you have no friends, money is an acceptable substitute : http://www.bayareadriving.com/services/stick_shift.htm

It's the same as an auto except that you tell the car when to shift. When shifting occurs, you depress the clutch pedal and move the shifter into the appropriate gear. That's the simplified version--the true version requires some practice ;)

It'll take you a bit of time to get used to it, but eventually it'll feel totally natural. I learned to drive stick the week before getting my Evo, and the first few days were a bit rough--lots of stalling, a bit of clutch smoke here and there... But I got the hang of it. In "special" situations (parallel-parking on a steep hill, driving my car on to ramps, etc.) I feel I'm still learning... but that's nothing to be ashamed of--nobody here came out of the womb knowing how to shift, rev-match and heel-toe. 8)

I had a "sportronic" (a.k.a. sport shift, tiptronic, etc.) shift on my '01 Eclipse and always used it in manual mode (w/o clutch, of course). That might be a good way to get used to the idea of shifting gears at certain times/revs. What convinced me to go manual (other than that I really wanted the Evo :D) was that I found myself second-guessing the sportronic more and more--sometimes it wouldn't let me shift when I wanted to.
