So, I nearly pulled the trigger obuying n a 2005 MR at Capitol Mitsubishi this weekend. but for $2,300 over MSRP, I would expect to get my first choice on color (Red).

Anyway, I've been researching vehicles for 12+ months, and I've fallen for the Evolution. Even in a driving simulator like Forza Motorsport on the Xbox, the Evolutions rule.

So, this is a fine forum. I look forward to learning from and contributing to this site.

Welcome!!

I would recommend holding out for color (and other options) you want. No sense dropping that much cash for something and then not be 100% happy with it in 2 months. Just my two pennies worth.

I also like to go "EvoStyle" in Forza and NFS Underground. Keeps me sane till I can get the real one. 8)

Man, it sounds like dealers in california really gouge on evos.... they're selling at or around invoice in the midwest... are trade in values also higher over there?

The price is high only for the MR, and mainly because it is the only one left in Northern California. I reckon dealers are negotiating on the rest of the EVO line up, just not MR.

Dear 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR Edition,

My present automobile ('95 Ford Explorer with 140K miles) is nearing the end of its reliable life. The electrical system is draining battery, and I can hear piston slap going on . . . . COME ON EVO IX! Get here already! Please!

Pretty please with sugar on top!

Yours truly,

Desperately seeking EVO IX

Well, after several months of waiting, I picked up an Evolution IX MR Edition in Rally Red, today.

Thanks to Snorre & Chris at San Rafael Mitsubishi for their professionalism and straight forward approach. Two thumbs up for them!

This link will take you to the album I set up.

More pics to follow later, it was dark when I finally arrived at home. The break in period is going to be hard to endure, indeed.

Nope. If I remember correctly the VIII MR came out in red, white, silver, and gray.

Thanks/Cheers everyone. I'm delighted to have officially joined the Evo Union.

What's your first mod???? :P

I actually haven't decided whether to mod, yet. For me, just getting an Evo (used to drive an SUV) is a huge upgrade, so I'll be grinning while driving stock for a very long time.

I'm not philosophically opposed to mods, I just think I can learn to drive this lovely, spirited AWD machine while stock before I start adding horses.

Yeah I feel ya on that one. I thought I was gonna stay stock but once I did my first mod... all hell break loose. It's addicting and at the same time expensive hobby.

Welcome! I am also trying to stay a part of the "keep it stock" club for as long as I can.

Reading online car forums doesn't help.
