CANCELLED NorCalEvo Meet #10 - Sept 5th @Veracom Mitsubishi

This is Real and NOT a Joke.

The meet has been cancelled because Veracom Mitsubishi backed out! And I'll list the numerous ways they did.

According to my sources, Veracom Mitsubishi wanted us to provide food for the meet. Up to this day, there hasn't been one tuner shop that we had a meet that have asked us to provide food and drinks. We tried negotiating with them and they came up with . . .
they sponsor $100 and each member that shows up will contribute $5.

Okay I may be an asshole and a hard negotiator, but every single meet we had, we have NEVER EVER asked any of our members to contribute, NEVER.

Oh, and they were going to provide us these raffle items.

Stickers
Baseball Caps

My Negotiation with the OWNER of Veracom came down to this:

Me: every time we had a meet, the host (tuner shop) has always been gracious enough to provide food and beverage and even good raffle prizes.
Veracom: Well we'll provide $100 for food, that's a lot already.
Me: Well, it's our policy to always have a free event for our members irregardless.
Veracom: Well, we are providing you with space and none of YOUR members have come to us for service, so WHAT can YOUR members do, I mean, if we do this, they have to give us something.
Me: Our members are always hesitant to go to dealers for work due to modifications and dealers blacklisting us for mods, we go to mod friendly dealers.
Veracom: If we do this, we can't just open our doors, we need your members to do something.
Me: Like what? Pay for service work? get denied for warranty? Okay, if it's not convenient for you, then let us know.
Veracom: Well, it's too expensive now: we can't provide all that, then let's just cancel it.
Me: Okay thanks

that's the conversation: I'm sorry if I disappointed anyone, but Jan and I are doing our best to provide the best possible meet for our members. We are in the process of finding another venue, if we cannot find another venue, the meet will be fully cancelled, but we PROMISE you that the next one we have will come with a big BANG.

Personally, I'm going to say WHATEVER. If the OWNER of a dealership cannot provide us with food and beverages when every shop that hosted us can, then I don't even want to bother with people like that. I am sure 40 something Evo's all parked in one dealership will draw a shit load of attention (free advertising) and people wondering "gee, why are all those evo's in that dealership, maybe they have a good deal?"

You guys can decide and judge for yourself about Veracom, I'm not going to make any statements, but i think you folks already know how i feel.

Believe me, we are working extremely hard right now to move the venue. I will apologize in advance if we cannot find another host. i will keep you updated.

Now that the cat is out of the bag.. I get a cool 1$ for every person who shows up at the meet who gets sighted with aftermarket modifications that voids their warranty. Let's be honest - I need to eat, and all that phat cash makes it worthwhile.

After I'm done, I'll use the old "memory eraser" (also known as the "reset button" by the video game generation) on every one of you so you'll forget exactly who it was that turned you in to the warranty authorities.

Good luck getting an Evo 9 for invoice. It is going to be hard to get it for MSRP, except from San Rafael Mitsu. The dealerships I have spoken with regarding the Evo 9 have all talked about adding a nice phat markup to the Evo 9 due to "initial limited availability". It's like 2003 all over again.. just waiting for the 20k markup from Capitol Mitsu.

thats strange. Last time I went to veracom for troubleshooting, they pulled my sparkplugs, accused me (wrongfully I might ad) of using fuel additives and I gave them $65. So they will add $100, plus the $65 I gave them for no help at all. Thats $165 right there. Yay, I know math!

I say screw it anyways, veracom is way too small to have a meet. if 30-40 cars show up, there will definately be parking issues.

Hell,... I just might actually buy an EVo this time if I could get a good deal on a new 05' Tarmac Black GSR. I have never actaully went to SRM, but if the meet is held there I just might see where the meet will be and finally know where this place really is.
Plus, SRM is really mod friendly.... :D
That is my suggestion, if anyone else think this is a good plan to have Labor Day Meet at SRM. I'm up for it..

wow.. veracom was so lame. There is no way that we should have to pay to have a meet a large business like that :shock: If anything.. its a huge promotion for the dealership! I can't say that I blame Veracom in some ways simply due to the fact that the financial benefits are not instantaneously tangible. They would be shelling out money for food, raffled items and how it would benefit them is not easily quantifiable. Anyhow, with that in mind, we move on.
