Quick question. I have a p2 and found out that there is a place in Fairfield that sells 101 octane race fuel. Since supposively the p2 is programmed for our low 91 crap, will I notice a big difference in performance if I put this in?

If your car ran shitty and timing was being pulled back first, then yes. If no, then it's a waste of money. If you were to crank up the boost and already have the fuel system upgrade, then yes.

Has anyone gone to the drags on pump gas, then went back later on the same tune w/ the same mods with some 100 octane to get better times/trap speeds? I'm curious about how our ECUs adapt to higher octanes too.

I almost never notice the difference when going from 91 -> 100, but that first tank of 91 after the ECU has adapted to the 100 octane is pretty interesting.

the only things I have noticed are

1) I get about 2mpg better millage on 100 octane
2) my calibrated butt-O-meter indicated that we don't seem to pull as much timing through out the power curve. the empriacal evidence suggests the same when I run that first tank of 91 after the 100 runs out.
3) The stock ECU seems to easily adapt to the different octane.

What the hell are you doing pussy-footing around with $5.80/gallon gas in the tank? Put that ish to good use!

It's 4.30$ in the San Jose area which is almost competitive to 91 octane at it's current prices.

Ya, given the uurrent price of 91....I would put 100 in my tank if the 76 gas station around the corner sell race gas.

has the price of race gas changed like pump gas has?

Still $1.30 more than 91 but honestly, if you are going to pay more for 100 octane why drive around like a grandma? I mean you are putting 100 in for more performance right?

Cameron, race fuel in our area stays the same. New prices are posted at the start of the New Year and unlike regular pump prices don't go up and down like a yoyo the rest of the time.

We've had similar results to chrisw, not a big power gain but really helps smooth out the engine timing and no other timing issues running WFO in the summer heat.

I only add about 4 gallons per tank and a tank will last me two weeks but thats done on a very regular basis. When I run out and have straight 91 in the tank for the first time you notice it at idle right off.

Well if that were the case, then ChrisW probably should not be using 100 octane on the street since driving like a madman is only acceptable on the track. ;)

Actually there are two. Therer is the gas station on N. Texas next to the audio shop and the motorcycle shop on W. Texas across from the park. :)

I never mentioned how I was driving. I do that for a reason

I was also racing that weekend.
