I just wanted to let you all know that I will be going to the Test & Tune at Sacramento Raceway on Friday September 9th. The gates open at 5pm and it goes from 6pm-10pm. I will be there with some of my fellow members from Norcal Turbo Buicks. I know one of the guys (Dean) ran 12.00's in his 86 T-type with a bigger turbo, FMIC, injectors, custom chip, exh, and Nitto Drag Radials. He is a good & very consistant driver. One of the other guys ran 11.40's in his 87 GN but he has returned to more of a street tune. This will be my 1st taking my car down the 1/4 mi. I am hoping for just a 14.0 or better would be nice but I not going to get too crazy off the line plus I am bone stock at the moment. I also want to test the accuracy of my g-tech again. Last time I went in my Maxima it was very very close to the actual e.t. but the mph was always higher. Hope to see you there.

Got back from Sac a while ago. I had a freaking blast. I was kind of bummed I didn't get to meet any of you up there. Well here's the story. My 03 Evo bought w/17k mi has felt sluggish since I bought it. I talked to Shiv and he told me to swing by the shop. I didn't know that they moved from Pleasanton so I wasn't able to hook up with them. Basically my car runs great but it just feels like something is not right. The more I got to talking to people the more I was thinking that the computer is pulling out timing. My car feels like it wants to go and then just kind of drops off. Kind of like a engine fitted with too small of a turbo. I decided to do all of my baseline runs on 5 gals of VP MS103 (unleaded) to make the best of it and for safety measures as well. On deserted roads in the wee hrs of the night my previous best g-tech run was a 14.6@?mph. I've tested the g-tech in the past against the clock and it's usually pretty close. So today I drove up to Sac and ran out most of the 91 that was in there. I was actually able to get 280+ miles out of the last tank. I dumped in the MS 103 and disconneced the Batt for a min or so. I noticed that my car ran nice and smooth and was much more responsive. The now pulls much harder and doesn't drop off.

Now at the track I was actually #3 and there was hardly anyone there. 3 of my Buick buddy's brought their Grand Nationals. One of my buddy's loaned my a helmet which was cool but I figured I wouldn't need it. Here goes my runs as follows. All of my launches were very conservative (bogs) except for the very last run of the day which gave me a slight head rush for a quick min

1st pass 14.99 @ 93.78mph w/2.495 60ft

2nd pass 15.00 @ 93.188mph w/2.406 60ft  g-tech 15.19 @ 97.8

3rd pass 14.77 @ 95.882mph w/2.261 60ft  g-tech 15.07 @ 97.7

4th pass 14.67 @ 93.557mph w/2.214 60ft  g-tech 14.77 @ 98.8

5th pass 14.753 @ 93.692mph w/2.303 60ft  g-tech 14.97 @ 98.5

6th pass 14.22 @ 94.468mph w/1.99 60ft  g-tech 0-60 5.8sec (wrong mode)

That final pass was made just before 9pm and it was nice and cold out and I got more aggressive with the launch and broke the tires lose and it felt very very nice. I was paired up against my friend and he was surprised to see me rocket out of the hole  He ran a 12.60@110mph but his reaction time was 2.088(building boost for the perfect launch. His car formally ran 11.50's on Nitto DR's but this was in the same tune he passed smog and it was through the cat! Sorry for the long winded post but I just wanted to let you know that I had a blast and they're selling 91 for $3.00 per gal! I bought 3 extra gals of VP MS 103 for $7 per gal which worked out to be about $2.98 less a gal than the 5 gal pale I bought.

There is a possibility that your 103 octane could be hurting your performance since your car is stock and not tuned for it. Higher octane gases burn slower, so they need more timing to burn it off properly, which usually gives more power. Your trap speeds seem a bit low for a stock 03. They usually trap 96-97 mph.

The fuel definitly helped the car. I can feel a noticable difference in performance. It appears that the cams have been out of the car before. I need to have someone check out my car to make sure everything is set to spec. The mph seemed a little low to me too. I only trapped 95+ one time on my 14.6 pass. I know the g-tech is not the most accurate device (especially the speed) but according to it I've picked up 2-3mph with this fuel over 91.

I think some of the low trap speed might as a result in my shift points in 1st gear. Five of the six passes I shifted at 6.5k rpm's and 7k for 2nd & 3rd and the one time I did shift at 7k in 1st netted me a 95.8mph trap. My car is equipped with a sunroof & I weigh like 270. That may also account for some of the low traps. What do you think? Also before I go to a shop to find out if everythings cool what should I expect to pay? I would like to have an idea. Thanks in advance.
