Got a trackmasters bulletin about a track day at this track... anyone driven it?

"The new track is Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, and it's located in the town of Pahrump, Nevada about 40 minutes north of the Las Vegas strip."

WOW, Pahrump huh?

Weird that they got one. We used to play football against them in high school

I have not been there, but RACERFACTORY (www.racerfactory.com) runs there alot. There should be some good pics/reviews there.

I think that track has been around for at least a few years. I don't think it's brand new.

In other news, I believe prostitution is legal in Pahrump.

I'm thinking about going and bringing my wife..it's close to Vegas. New track, cheap, could be fun!

Hey guys,

I think it would be cool to have an evo presence at this event. Let me know if anyone is going to make it.

Then you've found a way to pay for your track day. ;)

:dumas: :owned:

It's a long way to drive though. I'd consider flying in to Vegas and renting something like a Mini Cooper S or an Audi TT Quattro or a Mercedes SLK for a day--about $150 to $200 (you'll spend almost that much in gas driving your Evo there). If you're feeling flush with cash you can rent a Ferrari 360.

Anyway it falls between my trip to Solo2 Nationals and my trip to Italy so I'll be a bit too busy (not to mention poor) to go this time 'round. :(

I thought about renting a car, but that cost plus to round trip airfares, etc...it's chaepaer to just drive the Evo down. I think I'm going to do it just to hit a new track.

I have run there 3 weekends with Racer Factory in the past year-and-a-half. It's a fun track. The existing 2.2 miles is kinda like a cross between Streets of Willow and Buttonwillow, if that means anything to you NorCal guys. It has lots of technical stuff and one long straight.

They are adding almost 2 miles to the track this fall, and it should be even better. Also, you can stay in a nearby hotel-casino so you can play craps and blackjack at night. Makes for a fun weekend. :D

here's the whole email... 540 miles from Sacto, quite a road trip. Tempting tho'!

Greetings TrackMasters Racers,

It's been a VERY busy August, and September will be more of the same!* August 5th at Infineon with 2 weeks notice, 3 days at Laguna Seca with bikes and cars Sept 9, 10 & 11, Thunderhill on Sept 23rd, and*a new track for most of us on Sept 30th.**We're also opening the November 13th Infineon event up for early registration on Thursday of this week.* The new track is Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, and it's located in the town of Pahrump, Nevada about 40 minutes north of the Las Vegas strip.* This track is home to the Radicals West driving school, and they also conduct race schools using C5 Z06 and C6 Corvettes.* This track is expanding and will be one of the longer tracks in the west later this season.* We will be running the 2.2 mile road course.

The Sept 30th track event is the 'kick-off' activity for a 3 day Honda S2000 Club of America event planned in and around the Las Vegas area that weekend.* The format will be 3 run groups, and because this will be a small group of cars & drivers, you'll have more seat time then you'll know what to do with!* The price is $150 for Honda S2000 Club of America members, and $175 for TMR members.* Not a bad price for the time on track.* Kind of like the old days at Thunderhill!

Too far to drive?* Well, for those of us in the Northern California area it is a haul down to Pahrump, but not too bad if you spend the weekend at the track with us and the San Diego Region Porsche Club, or in the adult playland of Las Vegas.* The San Diego Region Porsche Club will be running an HPDE and Time Trials that weekend and their event is*open to all marques of cars.* Their contact information is located a the end of this message.* Driving distance to Spring Mountain is about 540 miles from Sacramanto, 565 from San Francisco, 524 from San Jose, and 235 miles from LA.

An alternative to driving to the track, is flying and driving.* Southwest and America West have some pretty cheap flights, and once you get there you can either rent a typical automatic shifing car from your car rental company of choice, or you can explore your options at a number of exotic car rental companies in Las Vegas.* M3's, Mini's, Ferrari, Porsches.* As always,* you can rent 'whatever you want' in Las Vegas! See the links below for more info. Room rentals near the track are about $65 to $70 per night.

We need drivers for this event.* Sign-ups have been slow for a number of reasons, but the good news is that if you do attend this event, you'll have all the open track space you can stand!*

Please help spread the word about this event in your driving community and any forums or clubs you participate in.

Thanks and we'll see some of you soon in the paddock!
