Chiltons have always been HORRIBLE manuals. Get a helms, its a factory manual.

DaveLC2 posted the Mitsu FSM here somewhere, would that help out? Or does Chilton's, etc. offer something that the FSM doesn't?

Chilton's basically tells you the order to take it apart and put it back together (if that). They do not provide step-by-step directions nor torque specs like the factory manual.

I asked the parts guy at stevens creek mitsu how much the service manual was, he said it was $250! is he just retarted, or is he serious?

No, the FSM is really expensive. Just search for it here on NCE and download it.
