Guys - flattered to have this post here !

I would LOVE to come out there - particularly before year's end as i am trying to make my frequent flyer status

I would need 5 guys for custom tuning to make the trip feasable economically

I wanted to update those I tuned the last time about my new tuning technology which incorporates a 10 channel data logging system with full print outs of before and after tune paramaters with wide band o2, knock, G force, etc. This equipment is crucial to proper 91 octane tuning results.

In any event the Custom Tune includes the data logging and a reflash plus custom tuning over 2 hours

New customer is $375

exisiting customer is $300

If we can get 10 guys I will take $30 off per guy

Base flashes with no tuning are $175 on site no shipping

The new Ecutek IX flash is $650 and includes the data log which also logs the MIVAC and the same 2 hours custom tuning - sorry no base flash on Ecutek based products at this time

Lets talk about a date as we already seem to have good interest - when are you guys thinking ?

I'm wondering, with a dynoflash would I be able to get my BOV to run venting to atmoshphere? I'm pretty sure that would do the trick. I need to get tuned for my catback, intake, bov, and whatever else comes my way before then. I'm thinking december but then again, I have a weeklong trip to Hawaii planned on the 26th of Dec. Damn, Hawaii... tune Evo.....Hawaii....tune Evo. :?

DynoFlash
10-25-2005, 10:55 AM
Changes to the flash since last time include my ongoing R & D and constant minor improvemnets along with the new 10 channel data logging system which gives everyone a pre and post tune print out of all relevant engine data including knock, G force, o2, rpms, boost etc - this is very helpful so people know what they are getting

As for AEM - i am AEM certifed tuner and have a lot of practice having recieved one of the very first evo boxes for my race car and having two years experience working on it

AEM tune is $350 for 2 hours

Depends on how far you want to go. I-280 (after the 380 interchange) is a great place to do high speed runs. Usually little to no traffic on a Saturday. I think the roads off the freeway might be good for stop and go driving too.

I quoted this post from a post Al himself made over on Evom.net

Guys - after a LOT of time send searching hexidecimal codes and testing I am very pleased to announce that I have finally perfected the TWO STEP boost building launch control in the stock ecu

The is a drag style launching aide so you keep the gas floored when you stop and the cars holds the perfect rpm and builds boost at the line - this gives you a wild kick off the line

I have it set as follows at this point

6050 RPMS set at dead stop in 1st

Car quickly builds 13 - 14 psi of boost

I can tailor the RPM point to match personal preference

This feature is now an optional selction on ALL DYNO FLASH ecus 2003, 2004 and 2005

THERE IS NO EXTRA CHARGE for this feature - its included

* Note - the stock 2005 evo comes with a non boost building lower rev limit at 5,000 in 1st gear. I disable this feature at your selection and can either put in a factory 7800 rev limiter or I can put in the new two step boost building launch control - or I can leave in the OEM 5,000 secondary rev limiter

Thanks for your continued support and business

I am continuing the research and developement and should have the new revised coolant temp enrichment function released in a short time

CAUTION - BEWARE - * * - This is a HIGH PERFORMANCE UPGRADE and has the potential to break drivetrain parts and melt clutches if you are not familiar with the proper clutch slipping method- * * The power you get off the line is a lot more than the stock set up - this is NOT FOR EVERYONE

Looks like we'll be getting this new feature in our flashes!
Awesome!

Hey guys Al did my car just the basic flash and man what a difference. Before the flash i was running 13.94 in the 1/4 mile in sac. The next day i was running 13.1 in the 1/4. He made a trip out to sac last april and i can tell you i am a satisfied customer. Al if you remember me i had the silver evo and you did my flash in the motel six parking lot licence plate was JJ FAST. Thanks Al and when it comes down to lanching he know what he is talking about worked out great for me.

I want to park in an area where I wouldn't get in the way of the real customers.

You guys aren't going to take down our VINs and email them to the corporate office, right? lol j/k :D

Don't worry about the parking situation there will be enough parking for everyone. As far as writing down VINs I'll jus make sure to write yours down. J/K :D

if my car ever "breaks down" i wouldn't take it to the dealer anyway... so there's really no reason to worry about that for me...

Just got home after the tuning session. Too bad the rain and traffic got in the way, but other than those it was fun.

91 octane piss water caused the car to knock a bit so Al had to take out some timing at about 6500 and 6900 even with 100% VP methanol being injected. Al called it a conservative tune with A/F between 10.9 to 11.1. If I'm about to get better octane gas, I would be able to turn boost up further but Al decided that about 24 psi on the stock turbo is as far as the car can go.

The car pulls hard... really hard during the peak torque area. Can't wait to head over to Gruppe-S for that free dyno I won on dyno day. :D

Al's a funny guy in a sarcastic kind of way. Thank you again, Al!

You would be suprised how much timing you have to pull out for a good tune on 91 octane, still makes great power though

Don't be afraid of pulling even -5.

With exception of the rain and traffic the tuning was a great experience to say the least. The slippery roads made Al's drifting test interesting.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the alky tune on 91oct.. Lots of mid range torque, holds 25-26psi to redline, no knock, afr 10.9-11.3, and on my little stock turbo.
Al said my car felt like a 340-350whp car. i need to get on a dyno for some real numbers.

Just a heads up

With a street car on alcohol I always tr to aim on the super conservative a.f ratio side on the rational that in the event of a unexpected alcohol kit failure if you are on the RICH side and the kit fails with the small # 7 jet we use you will stil remain in a reasonable a/f on just gas - allowing the stock ecu to pull timing and most likely save your engine

Sure - you could go a bit leaner on the tune - say 11.3 - 11.5 and make about 15 more whp - however - at that point if the alcohol kit fails you will likely burn a hole in your piston by the time you realize what is going on

Finally - alcohol burns at an ideal a/f of 6 / 1 a/f whichs means that when you are using a combination of 10 - 13% alcohol and 85 - 90% gas your ideal a/f is going to be slightly richer than on 100% gas

Smooth - refined - safe and powerful are the goals I am looking for in tuning a car

As for the other customer with knock on alcohol - it was most likely a bad tank of gas - main point is your present tune is both fast and is also leaving a huge saftey margin on the table - a very very safe tune and well withing the window of extreme reliability

As the other gentleman suggested 91 octane is not something you want to try and push to its limits - head gaskets and ring lands do not tolerate such actions

The best tune of the day was the guy with the STOCK BOOST car with turbo back

Man - the new boost control logic is amaing - it held 20.5 psi tapering to 18 smooth as a lake - no boost hose or pill adjustment neaded

It was a blast to drive - amazing power for a 91 octane car with such few mods

Nice to see so many of you yesterday and looking forward to today's rainy fun !

I don't want to start anything but I think 25-26psi held on 91 octane without alky (if it fails), nothing in the world is gonna save it from detonating the crap out of itself, not even a low AFR. I've logged my car with high boost and a 10.8 AFR (before I cranked the boost) just because I was curious and logged about 2.8v knock, sustained. yea, that's bad.

holds 25-26psi to redline

So the Forge actuator is allowing your turbo to hold that boost to redline? I've been curious about that actuator.

The forge actuator w/red spring holds 25-26psi boost steady as a rock (3rd/4th gear pull) to redline. No taper. I think some of it has to be due to the addition of 10.5 hotside and O2 housing. Worthwhile mod in my opinion if your planning to up the boost.

DynoFlash
12-18-2005, 05:21 PM
true - some of the additional knock resistance comes from opening up back pressure and aloowing more spent exhuast gases to evacuate the combustion chamber

10.5 hot side - 02 housing ported exhuast manidfold - they all help

With my tuning parameters it is very unlikely that 2.8 volts signal off the knock sensor will be sustained very long before the ecu reverts to the low octane fuel and timing maps which are set so conservatively that I feel it is unlikely any engine damage will result

It is good to have access to the high and low octane maps and set them up as a very significant saftey net wih alcohol tuned cars
