Let us know when you figure out how to relocate the heater/AC controls.

hey wilson, can you post a link to a store that sells the double din panel? I don't think relocating the factory climate controls to the lower cubby will be very difficult.

I've got an extra hvac controlls with wire and everything if someone messes theres up on install. Seems doable from what Ive seen.

I'd volunteer to attempt to design an install kit for NCE people if there's any interest. If so, and I mess up, I'll get in touch with you. Most of the stereo stuff in my car is loosely attached right now anyway, since I'm waiting for the gauge panel to come in. I think all that's needed is a new bracket for the climate controls, and a plastic panel that mates with the radio relocation kit.

Sure they aren't from an Evo? 3G Pontiac Eclipses have that like pushbutton knob for AC. The pic posted has Evo controls.

Unless you are talking about the mechanics behind the panel that have been swapped to 3G stuff???

Interesting, not quite sure if I like, but would like to help someone try.

Actually i'm looking at it closer and i guess it is Evo parts and cut to shape to fit in the lower portion... don't mess up ><

You think that the controls are actually closer together than usual? Looked pretty normal to me.

When I pulled my stereo, I looked at the HVAC controls and the housing seems to be about the same width as the stereo, so it might fit pretty well.

it will fit fine in the din but you have to do some triming so that it will fit flush in the brackets.. it will pushed foward if you dont...

I think if you order the JDM double din panel with the JDM climate control for the lower din slot, it would bolt in.

no you cant.. JDM is not mechanical like ours.. here is a thread from EvoM that explains it.. http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=134933&highlight=double+din

Yea the JDM/UK auto climate controls will not work with ours.

umm... it's possible, but as the author explains in the email, it is very difficult.

Practical, no
Possible, yes

I think Wilson should do it 8)

yeah, okay, the climate controls are indeed too wide for the radio relocation kit. But of course, everyone but me had already realized that.

I've been trying to research the JDM parts form what i've found so far the JDM control unit will not just bolt in a USDM car.

I almost thought you said, "If I get a wild hare up my ass". I was scared for a sec.

I still think the cool thing to do would be to ditch the HVAC box completely and connect the cables to servo motors. Then you could have touchscreen controls for A/C. That would be bitchin.

Wilson, can you post up a link to where you found this panel? I'd like to buy one even though it looks a little tricky.

In that EvoM thread, they mentioned that they were using the UK stuff, I don't know if that is any different. I would expect it to be the same as the JDM parts.
