I guess Forge Motorsports is building these soon. They look sweet! This is going to be a must have for any track fiend.

DAMN! ~$700US for those? I could probably have sheetmetal stamped and welded like that in quantities of <10. These guys are making a killing on the kit.

Brake ducts are ugly. You don't want them, nor do you need them.

I'd say it takes about three sessions of track time before pad fade can become an issue even with my old setup (before I had the PF rotors and pads). Figure 20 minutes a session so say about 8 laps, about 2.5 miles a laps so that makes 60 miles.

Tell me where there's a 60-mile twisty road where you can drive flat-out, hitting 1.2 G's every corner on your DOT-R race tires, and I'll tell you might need brake cooling ducts.

Well, sure, if you insist on being one of those people who rides their brakes all the way down the Grapevine...

Seriously though. Better fluid and pads will go a long way.

I can turn my pedal to sponge in a couple laps back and forth on my street.

Nice. $200 sounds like a darned reasonable price to ensure your brakes don't fade and you don't go flying off the end of straight as a result. 8)

FWIW I'm having less than happy customer experience with Forge for some couplers and other things I ordered. I ordered two months ago. No product still and they only responded to 1 email and silence for the past month.

Yea Forge customer service sucks ass, which is actually kind of funny since the guy has enough time to post almost every day on Evolutionm.net

I sent 3 emails asking about when my motor mount was going to ship and they didn't return any of them but the last one when I told them I was going to cancel my order and reverse the charges since they said it was in stock when I ordered it and there I was a month later with nothing.

It showed up 2 days later fedex 2 day air.

Well, my experience w/ Forge has certainly been a good one. After the kit became available, I immediately got a call from Mike@Forge. He shipped them out the next day and I got them today.

These pieces are well crafted. Exterior surfaces are polished and welds are clean.

The only thing missing from the kit are inlets. I guess I'll have to be creative and rig something up. Since I don't have ACD, the whole left opening of the bumper is free, so put it somewhere in that area.

I'll be installing the ducts this weekend. It'll be just in time for my track day on the 24th. Can't wait! :)

Mine came in today as well. Bolted on the outlets in a few minutes. Fitment was just about perfect, everything just bolted into place.

I wonder about the hex-cap screws; the stock caliper bolts are torqued to 80 ft-lbs, and I'm hesitant to try applying that much torque (I have hex-key sockets that I can use with a torque wrench if I want to). The instructions say just hand-tighten with an allen key and I'm not sure that's quite tight enough--really don't want my calipers wiggling loose. Anyway everything seems pretty solid for now.

Not sure exactly how to run the ducting yet especially on the passenger side. I think I can squeeze the duct tube between some of the oil lines.

Another idea I have is simply to make a type of downwards "snorkel" that will just stick out downwards and into the airstream below the car. Should get plenty of airflow. I think it should clear the lower control arm and wheel okay; will test-fit with my 17x9 wheels tomorrow. The snorkel would need some flexiblity or a built-in weakness so if it hits a rock or something (judging from how my brake air guides were both damaged, this can happen pretty easily), it won't bend/rip the aluminum duct outlets.

Thanks goes to Tony (methods4) for this link. I'm going to use these pieces as inlets.

http://www.wicksaircraft.com/catalog/product_detail.php/pid=8653~subid=2208/index.html

It looks like there is room to place the passenger side duct inlet on the passenger side opening on the bumper. I plan on trimming the flange as much as I can to minimize airflow blockage to the oil cooler.

I'm going to work my way up to 80 ft-lbs on the caliper mounting allen bolts. They look like they use a 10mm allen key, so it should be okay. I've cracked headbolts loose that were the same size using an allen key and a pipe before.

hey tam, from the above pics, it looks like there is a set of collared spacers. don't the
recessed ends fit inside the mounting holes on the duct? then the actual mating surface would carry
the full 80lb. torque pressure and not the thin aluminium eyelet.

Yup. Fits together beautifully. And the hex-cap screw does look pretty beefy; I'm just worried about slipping and stripping the head.
