So I went to change my driveline fluids today, did the rear diff, that was cake like usual, T-case wasn't so bad...

Then I moved on to the 6spd transmission and the drain plug wasn't a 24mm bolt like the T-case and rear diff, it was a round bolt which takes a star bit.

Awesome! Why would I have any of those? :?

So just FYI for all the other 6spd people. I'm trying to find my service manual CD-ROM and I'll post what star bit size it is for everyone.

Yeesh, torx bit for a drain plug? I am starting to picture alot of stripped bolts for future 6spd owners in the future.

I always considered torx heads as being very weak and easily stripped.

i thought you needed to activate the ACD pump to change T-Case fluids in 05s...??

No, you need to activate the ACD pump when you lose all the ACD fluid because you took the transmission out.

What about the ACD fluid? Does that need to be changed?

When you do the T-case or in general?

When you do the T-case, no. In general, yes.

I only have 19k miles, but since I have had 6 track events in those 19k miles I wanted to change my fluid earlier than normal just in case.

It was pretty dirty so I am glad I did.

The ACD line runs through the transfer case. You can actually get the tranny in/out without touching the line, but it's a PITA.

I would expect Torx heads to be better because of greater contact surface area...

Not this one, its about 3x-4x smaller than the 24mm bolt that the tcase and rear diff has for a drain plug.

If you disconnect the line to the T-case, how you go about cycling the ACD motor then?
