So I got a chance to see the Works/Cyberevo Evo over at Works last weekend. Pete had some pretty interesting stories about how they tune the engine / suspension etc. Seemed like it was as much of an art as a science...

anyway, the guys from Japan were pretty into running big spacers (about an inch?) up front with no spacers in the rear... widen the track, etc.

Any thoughts about this? Would this lead to premature wear of the drivetrain or something?

an inch?!?!

Your hubs and wheel bearings will love that.

Navid and I ran spacers around that size at Nationals (in fact we put them on between runs on the second day ); increasing the front track can help handling... I think he was hoping it would help keep the inside rear tire from picking up.

Yeah.. widening the front track will help get the rear end to rotate better. It's also why they run different offset front and rear wheels on the track Evos in Japan. I used to run a 15mm front spacer just to clear my 4 piston brakes on my 240SX.

I don't know about an inch though.. that's a bit much
