I am having a business trip in HK now and I saw this weird looking carbon trunk. At first, I thought it was dent by a truck or somnething... then I realized that it is carbon fiber

(Sorry for the quality of the pictures... I took it with my phone.)

Wow, that is weird looking... certainly looks like a dent. I guess the owner was really itching for a trunk to set his Evo apart from the others.

By the way, your camera takes really nice pics... you should see some from my phone -- they are horrendous.

I guess if you wanted to minimize your trunkspace...

Its kinda neat because whe it rains just put a bucket in the middle bottom and you'll have a water to clean your car...

Looks like sex toy or something, i can see a girl laying on that thing....

Hmm.. maybe the thing helps aerodynamics somehow?

I read this on another forum:

Since the car is traveling forward, it punches a hole in the air. the air it displaces moves under and over the car. At the rear of the car (the bumper) there is all of the sudden a hole that air not previously taking up. This creates a low pressure zone. Air quickly flows from the high pressure around the car to the low pressure at the bumper. This means that air that was flowing along the ground under you car(and picking up dirt) suddenly moves upward in a turbulent fashion carrying dirt onto the bumper.

You can keep air from getting under the car(impossible) with an airdam/sideskirts.

Or construct a large cone shape on the rear of the car in order to smooth the flow until the upper and lower flows converge... and if you look at the picture, those flows wont converge until 8 feet behind the car. I am sure you don't want to build that.

I found the trunk on ebay. It claims to be part of Jackie Chan's special kit or something. Interesting...
