So I decided to start a thread to put my findings, etc with the ECU + piggy back system.

I don't feel like typing out all the cool stuff the ECU + does, can do, and will do so feel free to take a look at http://www.ecuplus.com if you want to know more.

I don't have the time or energy right now to write a huge thing about me installing and tuning it in the last 3 days since I got it, I will leave that to another day soon.

I will start off my thread with a screenshot of ECU +'s built in Dyno testing software. You can analyze any log you have into a dyno test at any time. This dyno screenshot is from an ECU + log I did while we did a dyno pull on a Mustang Dyno today at the Gruppe-S dyno day. The numbers I got from the Mustang Dyno where 270.8whp and 269.5wtq, as you can see the ECU + dyno is pretty damn close in HP and almost spot on in torque, very cool!

http://www.norcalmotorsports.org/users/bryan/mods/EVO/ecu_plus/logs/dynoday_111905/ecu_plus_dyno.gif

Here is a screenshot of the actual log I did on the dyno, keep in mind this is only showing 6 windows out of many many more you can view while you are logging.

Overall, I am really excited about the ECU + so far, does much more than my SAFC did, and the ability to log Knock and Wideband, change fuel in 250rpm increments and across 4 loads, and also to change timing and all the other things and get it in a nice interface is just great.

More to come soon.

ECU + keeps getting better and better...

Tom made map switching and saving possible from the palm pilot now.

Sweet, no more lugging the laptop to the track!

Yeah, I was pretty stoked when I read that on evom today... can't wait to get mine soon! The support for ECU+ is phenomenal, given that it's a one man show.

Is this a 3rd gear or a 4th gear pull? I'm just curious......

Looks like a 3rd gear pull based on the snapshot on the top screen under gear used.

btw here is an updated ecu + dyno capture from the last time I tuned the car on the dyno. Between stock cams and 272/272s:

I'll have new log from the street in the next couple days.

Update:

I have been playing around with timing changes at idle to see if it would smooth out my lopey idle.

I am currently adding +5 timing at idle, smoothing it back down to 0 at about 1700rpm.

My idle has smoothed out a ton, it barely lopes anymore, it still lopes, but they are very tight lopes that you can barely tell. Much smoother now.

I also leaned out my last 303 whp dyno tune a bit since it was running rich at some points on the street, anywhere from 10.2 to 10.6 at some points. Now it's a nice and smooth 11.1 to 11.3. I also took out another degree of timing up top for a total of -4 degrees I am taking out from about 6500 till 7600 rpm.

This cleaned up the powerband.

I am still only hitting a max of about 820c - 840c EGT on the street depending on weather, 4th gear pull.

I have scheduled some more dyno time on Jan 14th to finally do a 100 octane tune. I can't wait to see what the car can do with some real fuel. :D

Mine just came in. I'm installing a new fuel pump and MBC this week, O2 housing and WB O2 next week, uninstall the P2, and after that I should be all ready for the ECU+ goodness.

The following round of upgrades would be the cams, hotside and turbo but I think I'm gonna wait until later this year... The driver has some serious catching up to do with the car.

Bryan can the Ecu+ work on light throttle closed and open loop operation? I'm thinking about giving up on the MAFT for my DSM. I see ECU+ supports the GM MAF though.

I can't really afford the EMS route and part throttle tuning is driving me insane on the MAFT.

Yup, 4 load points for fuel and timing:

You can even set when it switches between them.

Great. My days of 43 knock counts at 25-30% throttle may be over. Then again it may just be phantom knock.

Been messing around with fine tuning my tune. Here is where I am currently at.

This is a pretty aggressive (for me) tune on 91 octane. One thing I have been noticing is that the EVO with cams perfers to be slightly richer. This current tune is running more timing then I usually like to. I usually aim for about 18 degrees on 91 octane, this is running about 20-21 degrees at the rev limiter, trying to push some limits. 8)

Anyway, screenshot and the actual log is below. Discussion is always good.
