just a heads up guys since the holiday madness has begun a bunch of phishers has been at it trying to scam you into giving your info to them.for the past 2 days ive received about 5 emails concerning my paypal account and reports of being used improperly.good thing i keep a track of my transactions and there was no such thing.my buddy fell for it before and it was a headache to change all of his info and calling his bank.

keep a tab on your spending, and remember that paypal dont ask you to email them your info.thats a dead giveaway for phishing so be smart and dont panic right away and start clickng

I use paypal almost daily and I have also been getting alot more of the fakes. You can forward them to [email protected].

Remeber, Paypal will alway address you by your REAL name, and not dear member, or user or anything like that.

If you are worried about Phishing attacks, I would highly encourage you to run Netcraft's Anti Phishing toolbar. It works on both IE and Firefox and will help the technically challenged that have issues understanding when a domain name is not necessarily valid.

I've also got several e-mails over the months about a problem with my paypal account. The 1st time I got it I was actually worried because I was doing some selling on ebay but then I realized that I use a specific e-mail account for all of my paypal transactions and that wasn't the right e-mail account. I've also got the Bank Of America verification e-mail too. They really made the page look almost like the real page (work computer). The letters weren't straight and my friend and I messed around with it for a while and he figured out that you were being redirected to a site in Russia! Crazy stuff

I recieved one of those letters. I reported it to paypal security [email protected], they emailed me back that nobody tried to email me about any information regarding misuse of paypal account. So they said just email them anything that might seem suspicious or you simply don't know what the hell, just forward it to them. Usually when paypal sends me an email, its pretty plain in text and no pictures of paypal or anything. But the spammer who sent me the email, had the logo of paypal all around it and the font was going here and there. i suggest email to [email protected], to confirm whats going on.

I have extensivly tested with that toolbar. It's crap. does a good job against the phishing attacks but it will destabalize IE due to its poor implementation.

FWIW, the msn toolbar also has a downloadable phishing filter

Maybe the problem's not with the toolbar?

they can't fix their security bugs as fast as we can. :nana: The problem is not with IE, the problem is with the poor implementaiton of their own BHO. you would have the same problem in Firefox with a crappy extension.... No difference.

If you look at all the security holes they currently have, IE fixed them years ago...

Use which ever browser you want.

Interesting you should say that since today I downloaded it and it doesn't run at all on my older P3 Dell. Since I can't find an older version of Firefox to download and my original was uninstalled, I find myself stuck with IE for the fist time in couple of years.

Ooh, that sucks. PM your E-mail, and I'll send you the install package for version 1.0.7.
