aren't 280 cams a bit overkill for street use? I don't think 280 cams are widely used unless you go with a bigger turbo . . .

Currently, you can only swap out the exhaust cam, as the intake cam is mivec.

Damn, it would be awkward with a stock intake/280 exhaust cams. It's all good because...

I though this was just a laugh when I saw someone trying to install cams on a Evo9

It maybe worthwhile for you to wait for others to swap them, and experiment with them before jumping the gun.
There are folks putting 272 on the exhaust side, but , the intake is harder to come by.
On the other hand, if you do change them, what kind of engine management are you going to use? :D

Then which intake cam would be a suitable match to the MIVEC intake cam? Would a 264 or 272 be too much?
I think 272 would be fine :D

Can you put just a single 264 exhaust cam on the IX then? I would just wait till the mivec cams come out.

Ya, you're missing the point bro. You can't put ANY intake cam besides stock right now because of the MIVEC. Wait until cams are developed for the 9, which should be soon.

currently, most JDM tuners are using aftermarket exhaust cam for the IX. the MIVEC compatible cams are being developed at this time -- according to my source in Japan (translated from some japanese magazines).

We are currently doing R&D on the IX Mivec Head and plan to have cams available by the second quarter-stay tuned.
