I am asking these 2 questions... of course this is just voluntary.
When this gets to a couple of pages, I will tell why I asked these questions.

1. How long have you had your Evo and how many miles?

2. What kind/s of problems have you had.(this could be either mechanical or electrical etc.)

Thanks :computer:

1. i've had my evo for about 4 months/ 6500 miles

2. Probelms = electrical: bad circuit board (i cannt attribute it to manufacture defect because of the aftermarket radio in there)

Woot... mine will be 1 year this sunday. The only issue I had was a 5th gear synchro grind at around 10k miles on the odo. Got that fixed under warranty. :D :band:

2. 5th gear synchro, fixed under warranty. Clutch is glazed and flywheel hotspotted, but that's my fault. I'll be putting in an AM clutch sometime in the next few months.

1. Three months 5500 miles (owned my previous Evo 6 months has 10k miles).

2. Two problems - car is too fast and handles too well. I am learning to live with it though. Same thing for my previous Evo.

Basically after a while you start grinding gears when shifting into 5th. (I heard the same can happen to reverse gear.) At first it happened once in a while for me, then eventually all the time--but only when driving at freeway speeds. Double-clutching when upshifting will avoid the problem once it starts happening. They fix it by replacing some part or another.

Couple weeks, 1k miles.

Biggest problem is, when I drop the clutch, everything flies out of my pockets and into the back seat :pissed:

The reason why I started this thread was to figure out why the people on the east coast are having so much problems with their Evos. Did they get a bad batch? Or do they just drive the shit out of them right off the showroom floor. From what I have found, the latter is true. Also it seems that Mitsu. has a problem with the tranny. Whether it be the clutch or the 5th gear syncro. But I think with the tranny problem, it falls down to the way the car is driven. The Evo is an all out fun car to drive and very powerful of the start. Like any car, in my opinion, if you always drive it like a maniac, you will do some damage in time.

So fellow owners....enjoy your Evo and hope that any problems that some of our members have had will prepare you on what to look for later on down the line. :D

1. People who have problems complain the loudest. You usually don't hear from the vast majority who don't.

2. I hear they have something called "weather" on the east coast.

I took that into consideration also. But when I was looking at the date on when it was posted, majority of it was in the summer time. :) So I figure the "weather" didn't really play a big part on their problems.

i think maybe the earlier batch that people receive , or were built ... you think ??
Also how about the breaking in period .. Maybe some people put just a couple of miles and started to get crazy with the evo ...
But theres a lot of Evo's out there and from the amount of
Evo's that they are , theres not that many people with the complains ....

I think those people who have problems with their cars were the type that didn't believe in breaking in a car. They just got in and drove the sh*t out of it.

1. 7mos, 3800mi
2. crazy accelation and it's too stable at high speed. 100mph feels like 65mph... i always have to watch my speed... don't want a ticket.

Not saying that there may be a few issues with the car, but I have an "east coast" model with a fairly early build date. I picked it up with almost 200 miles on it and sure it got a flogging while in the dealer's hands (it was their only one). Yet, I have had zero problems. I have taken this car out and worked it for all she's worth a few times and as long as I give her some TLC when due, there's not so much as a hiccup ;) I'm sure some problems come from engineering flaws, but I would say most are from abuse/neglect/ignorance.

I agree 100%. I just hate it when people puts the blame on Mitsu. when they(owner) were the one that initiated the problem.
