And as everyone knows, David Buschur from Buschur Racing (http://www.buschurracing.com) has been nice enough to donate some great Buschur parts for our raffle. I have yet to be in town when you guys plan a meet! I will be in LA (just like last time) on Apr 10.

I can't wait to meet up with everyone, but I need to plan my trips better. FWIW, I was all set to meet up on Mar 27, then everything had to go all wacky!

hey jan, is that the maximum number of people that can attend er was that a rough estimate? i'm still in the process of planning things out.

We have a limit of 250 people - so hurry and sign up. :) Seriously, I am just incrementing as we get more people. Sorry about the confusion, but we can easily handle 50+ people at the meet.

JanSolo
03-22-2004, 10:19 PM
One more thing to add - I've recently acquired a copy of Gran Turismo 4 Prologue that is in Japanese. So I'm bringing down a special PS2 and GT4 Prologue for our contest. Which is this..

The contest is simple: We are going to have tournament style contest to determine who will be our NorCalEvo.net Gran Turismo 4 Champion. Groups of two will go head to head until there are two people left. The last person standing wins a prize and is known henceforth as his Royal Regalness, the NorCalEvo GranTurismo 4 Champion.

We are going to limit the amount of entrants to 8 due to time constraints. So if you think you are good at Gran Turismo and want to prove it, now is your chance.

The Caravan to WORKS (after the drive is finished):

Thank you thank you. :) Now just be sure not to take any bicyclists out when you're taking those turns hard.

After the meet on the 10th is over, I will be heading down to Laguna Seca for the Skip Barber racing school I will be attending. My wife bought me a one day class down there for our 1 year wedding anniversary - something which I need to attend (just think back to my previous Evo to understand where I'm coming from).

Here is what the class is supposed to entail:

"This program features a classroom session on vehicle dynamics, identifying why cars behave the way they do. But the bulk of the day is spent outdoors in cars. Learn and practice slides and recoveries on a skid pad, threshold braking and accident avoidance techniques. Using the V8 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, you'll practice slides and recovery while the nimble Dodge Neon powers you through lane-toss exercises. The highlight of the program tests your newfound skills in an exhilarating autocross session utilizing the V10-powered Dodge Viper SRT-10."

Fear for my instructor.

:) I dunno, Viper isn't exactly an autocross car. Despite my admittedly humble performance at yesterday's AAS auto-x, I was nevertheless happy to see that I had times faster than or within a second of all three Vipers that ran the same day.

I completely agree. I figured they would have used the Neon as a the autocross car. But, they obviously have some logic behind their decision. Too bad I couldn't drive an SRT4 with a nice blow off valve instead.

my sister in law just did that class like 2 weeks ago to start getting ready for her nsx. i was talking to my little sister about it and she said they got to drive the new vipers a little and they also get to ride in the car while the instructor goes buck wild in the car. :skid: enjoy  :barf:

I don't know now but before Barber had these classes where you use your own car in the school which I think is better. You would know how to handle your car and get it out of certain situations. Alot of times Barber uses BMWs for their classes but it is better to learn your car rather than a BMW.

thunderhill classes use your own car with an instructor in the passenger seat for instruction and criticism...

pretty cool, i think.

***my former roommate, rob, which some of yous have met, went through the 3-day instruction @ skip barber. he said it was the sh!t, he filmed the entire course with an instructor driving and stating the braking, turn-ins and acceleration points of laguna seca, while he was in the passenger seat.

Change of plans for me. I will not be able to attend the meet. Gotta take my daughter to the Easter egg hunt that day. I'm bummed!! I'll try and catch the next one.

One more time for the people that don't visit the first post.

----

Presenting NorCalEvo.net Meet #4.

When: April 10th @ 11am. Meet at Starbucks in Cupertino (Corner of De Anza Blvd & Stevens Creek Blvd).
Where: WORKS Rally (http://www.worksrally.com) - 2259 Shafter Avenue, San Francisco, CA.
What: A drive, a contest, a DJ, a BBQ and a raffle. What's not to like?
The Drive: I currently have a drive in mind (hence the different meeting spot). Details on the drive are forthcoming. I am hoping that the road in mind is safe enough for 30 + cars.
---

This is your chance to walk away with a free WORKS Rally P1 ECU reflash just for showing up. To be elligible, you must be an Evo owner, present at the raffle and a member of NorCalEvo. WORKS may ask you to fill out a questionnaire, so remember to use your best penmanship. ;)

And as everyone knows, David Buschur from Buschur Racing (http://www.buschurracing.com) has been nice enough to donate some great Buschur parts for our raffle. Yet another reason to show up, hang out and kick it old school with your fellow Evo owners. Yes, I said old school - I am an old man trying to be hip like you younguns!

Got you both on the list now. The list is officially at 40 Evos. (I say 40 even though the list has 41 people listed since my wife owns a WRX.)

I ran into CupertinoSteve last night coming home and he said he may go as well, so we may well have 42 Evos there. Of course, you never know who is going to drop out or who may show up that is not on the list. But yeap, this is going to be the biggest NorCalEvo.net meet to date.

Thanks to everyone who is going to show up. This is going to be amazing.

Just an FYI to everyone.

I picked up some of the food and drinks last night. Right now, the menu is nothing impressive - basically, hamburgers (maybe a few turkey burgers), chips and soda. So, if you guys have anything specific you want grilled, bring it along and we can cook it up for you.

Also, Lord Stockdale will be leading the drive. If anyone crashes on the drive, blame him and his rally-esque driving style. ;)

See you guys and girls tomorrow.

Seriously everyone, that was the most fun I've had at a meet. Too bad things didn't work out perfectly with the bbq. But, CollinsT did a kick ass job as the Master Chef.

Now for the official Thank You list, in no particular order.

1. CollinsT (once again) for the cooking up all the food.
2. SouthernCrane for taking down the GT4 tourney times.
3. Lord Stockdale, for driving like a madman on the drive and also taking down GT4 times.
4. Nebolic for all the hard work getting the shirts made and even donating one to the raffle.

And of course, David Buschur for being so generous and donating the intake and rear strut tower for the raffle. David went above and beyond the call of duty on this one.

Lastly, thanks to all the folks at WORKS for hosting todays shindig, busting out all the cool tunes and just being swell hosts, of course.

My favorite part of the entire event was taking people out for a spin in the WORKS shop car. The Zeals on that car are AMAZING - I took hard corners with tires screeching and felt in control the entire time. And the WORKS turbo kit? Now that I am a bit more used to it, all I can say is WOW. It is way too powerful for my driving ability, but it doesn't mean I couldn't learn to love it. ;) I will have one in my Evo, someday..

I hope to see everyone that made it to this meet and more at the next one!

And also everybody that showed up, it was a mighty fun event.

BlueEvo, we'll have a rematch at the next meet. +2 secs. muhaaaaaaaaa. I think it helps a lot to use the wall for braking instead of using the real brakes :)

Also hi to all the new peeps i've met yesterday.

BTW The WORKS shop car is nuts, if i had a car like that, i think i'll be thrown in jail for reckless driving The zeals kit on there is awesome, i'm thinking of making a purchase of that suspension set up. Oh yeah the harness on there, its crazy.

Hey everyone!

This is my first post!

I went to this meet last weekend and had a great time. I tagged along with blueskies and talked to someone who said they saw a couple of new EVOs for only $27,800 ? Anyone know what dealership that might be?

Thanks!

I need and EVO!! :)

Welcome XtraN!

There was a thread a while back about Evos selling for $27750 at Capitol Mitsubishi: http://www.norcalevo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=452

Maybe that's what they were referring to?

Good luck! 8)

Naw, "He" said it was very recent (like last weekend) that he saw them with sale signs on them. I guess it could be that dealership, but it sounds like I should avoid that place. I'd rather pay a little more and have great service. I'm leaning towards the dealership in San Rafael. The guy I've talked to, Snorre, is also an ex rally driver!

I just have to sell my RSX Type-S (with only 2450 miles on it) !!
(I know I know, what was I thinking) gonna lose about 3k on this mistake. :(

Hey everyone, I added my pics of the meet in the gallery area.
I made a decent panoramic of the EVOs lined up before the drive. The black bar through the civic was not intentional. I just screwed-up.

But maybe if he would have gotten off his rear and bought an EVO, it just might not have happened...

04-22-2004, 09:53 PM
Yea, I had to drive it from Sacramento!

I bought it from San Rafael. Thanks Snorre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I varied my speed ALOT! trying to do the engine breaking to work both sides of "stress" It was a hectic day, let me tell you.

Worse part is the dealer lied and said it was mint. It has a 5 inch scratch on the hood and a 2" long "knuckle sized" dent behind the gas lid. Lazy slackers/liars. They were supposed to inspect the car before I came up there.

So Snorre is taking care of it for me :) That dude is the best. I'd expect any dealer to take care of it, but this guy is the best guy to talk to. He never comes across as a car salesman! The guy in Sacramento sure was a typical sales prick. I just can't stand those type of guys (which is almost all of them)!

Anyhow, besides that fact, this is a GREAT way to start the weekend.
