I'm thinking of getting cams so I was wondering what the life expectancy is for them (i.e. HKS 264/264)? Assuming under normal street driving condition with minimal track days.

I haven't seen any went bad yet. SO I would say they last as long as your other engine parts does.... it's pretty much install and forget kind of parts.

Cams should last the lifetime of the car. It isn't exactly a wear item people replace.

I've seen DSM's with over 200,000 miles with original cams still tumbling with no problems.

So from what I gather, cams should last as long as your engine then? "Fix it and forget it" deals? Thanks for the info guys.

Yes, although there have been some regrinds in the DSM market a few years back that would wear themselves out to a nice circular shape over time

usually cam don't break. They should last the life of the engine.

Heard of this happening to V8's before, pretty rare I think. I also think its very much best to stay away from any sort of regrinds.
