what size tires are you running? Also, I talked to Thewheelsource from socal(many people recomended me to them) and they said the rear actually has to be "shaved" more then rolled. did you roll the rears?

call around to local body shops, most have the tools to do it correctly.

Maybe smack can chime in as well. He had his fenders rolled to fit those fatty 255s, didn't he? I wonder if there's a good chance that someone can screw up and leave crinkles (sp?) or similar... :?:

^idk how diff mine is, but i am going to be running 255/35/18 on a 18X9. so the rears you have to shave or roll?

I got my rear fenders trimmed at exact motorsports in milpitas. I can't remember what I paid though :stoned: My setup is 18x9 31+ with 255/35/18.

hmm... ok! I thought you would have to with 255s for sure, but obviously that's not the case. :) It's totally dependent on your offset, though, right? There's no problems with rubbing on the inside?

with 255's rolling would be fine just to give your tires more space around it since youll be running 18's

hey dave no rubbing on the inside either on mine but when i switch to 275 ra1's im gonna be rolling the rears on my evo for sure

Smack runs 275's :)

You don't have to roll the rears at all for 255's on 17x9 +35. I know because I run those specs.

do you know if i have to for 255/35/18, 18X9 +29? i think the offset is pretty big so i mgiht have to?

when i had my 18's before i was running the t1r's on them which was 255/35/18 but the offset of the rim was 35mm.no rubbing issues with it anywhere even when my car was lowered.but with the 29mm offset you might have to not unless you dont drop your evo that much.

If done correctly, it will not.

not exactly true. i had to roll the lip completely flat to fit the 275's under with my offset(35).
i have rolled fenders on other cars before so i do know what i'm doing but
i heated the shit out of the paint and everything is fine up to about 3/4 of the way flat.
but the paint is just not soft enough to go from a 90 deg. bend to a 180 in that small of a radius
without cracking. maybe if the car was brand new and the paint wasn't totally cured yet but i still doubt it.
if you can get away with not going totally flat you should be fine.

ps. i have a roller if anyone wants to borrow it.

no way. i'm not going to be responsible for the respray if it goes wrong.
not enough $ in it in the first place. but hey you can borrow the roller and do it yourself.

for the 255's...
i thought brian said he didn't have to roll them at all on the +35 offset wheels of his?

okay i see the liability :( . ya +35 clears but im running +29(i think sticks out farther)

yep about a 1/4"
you still might be able to get away with not going completely flat with the 255's

I have the same roller tool. The most difficult part is getting the paint not to crack. I used a heat gun to soften the paint but was only partly successful in this regard. I also bent the driver's side fender a bit because I rushed the job a bit and tried to use a small floor jack (under the control arm) to help with applying pressure to the fender lip--that was a mistake.

I found I had to undo the shock (lower bolt) to allow the suspension arm to swing down low enough to get the fender roller in there in the first place. I then used the floor jack under the spindle to keep the suspension from drooping too low. But I shouldn't have used the jack to apply upwards pressure--that's what tweaked the fender.

I'm using 5zigen FN01RC size 18x9.5 offset 35mm
Tires are 255/25/18 no fender rolling required.

is your car lowered at all?
i only ask because i'm running the same wheel with a 275 ra-1 and i had to roll the lip flat.

It's the tires that would rub, and since he's running those skinny 255s (on a 9.5" rim? that's a waste) he's not getting rubbing--255s are going to be 20mm narrower, so 10mm on each "side" of the wheel, which is roughly the extra clearance you get by rolling the fenders.
