Just wanted to add our results for the EVO IX Turbo :)
Before I get flamed, please keep in mind that our dyno is one of the earlier MD 4WD dynos. A stock EVO VIII comes in at 210whp, and I cannot recall ever having seen a stock turbo EVO VIII break 300whp on our dyno on 91 octane (regardless of mods). 400whp will get you low 11's on our dyno, 430whp will put you in the 10's.
The customer's vehicle had the following modifications:
*264 / 272 cams, cam gears
*02 housing, downpipe, exhaust
*CATTED
*720cc injectors, walbro pump
A car like this will usually come in at about 260whp to 270whp. The customer's car baselined at 265whp. We added only the EVO IX turbo and the ECUTEK tune.
Results:
*Faster spool up than the EVO VIII turbo
*Better boost response than the EVO VIII turbo
*No boost instability compared ot the EVO VIII turbo (this can be usually tuned around, it's just no there anymore however).
*The car left with 300whp, 280ft/lbs of torque.
Conclusion:
This turbo is worth about 15-20whp over the EVO VIII turbo. Given a 272 cammed car with the cat removed, we firmly believe this would have been a 310-315 whp car. Considering the majority of 272 / catless cars cannot break 285whp on our dyno, this is a fairly achievement for a 91 octane pump gas turbo. Taken with the fact that this turbo performs better than the stock turbo in both spool up and response, the new EVO IX turbo is truly remarkable. Highly recommend for the Auto-X / Road race customer looking for that broad midrange power. :)
Cheers,
Gary
