I have an EVO IX MR, and wanted to get some hardpipes for the car. I have a universal Greddy Type-S BOV that I wish to install with the hardpipes. With so many hardpipes out on the market which ones will work with the EVO IX's? I heard the LICP is different on the '06s.

The lower piping routing is different on the IX.

The lower pipe is really the only restriction in the system on the EVO. People mostly upgrade their pipes to get better connectors that won't blow out over time.

btw, your stock BOV is metal and works fine, the Type-S isn't an improvement unless you want the sound, although if you run it correctly and plumb it back into the intake it won't make much more sound than stock.

Congrats on the car! I remember you were going through that thing with insurance on your old Subaru.

Lurk another fellow suby gone Mitsu, hope to join you soon. I also hear the APS BOV is decent if you are wanting to run a 50/50 set up, had one on the suby and it was not too loud just audible enough to be noticiable, and still idled great. Not sure how the mitsu would respond exactly though.

I see no advantage with the Dejon upper IC piping. It necks down to fit the stock fitting at the bottom. They are also steel and not aluminum if you are the kind of person that cares about that.

This could be a really dumb question. Why wouldn't a steel pipe be preferable to aluminum?

What features should one look for in a hard pipe? I'd be interested in them primarily for a better connection. Any extra horsepower would be a bonus.

Steel is heavier and can rust. Aluminum also dissipates heat better than steel.

The Helix and Nisei pipes both work with the stock airbox.

Do either of them clear the stock air box and the stock battery???

I believe the Helix one does; the Nisei requires a small and/or relocated battery. (Both work with the stock airbox.)

Hey Everyone,

Just was checking in on a couple of things and noticed this thread. First, I just want to say thanks to Trinydex & Tam. I appreciate that you guys take the time and answer questions for me. Good looking out!

Trinydex, call me up soon, got to talk to you about something good for you!

Reason I jumped into this thread was to let some of you know that our pipe kit has no problems fitting the 9.

Lowers are available separately for $225.
Uppers are $299.

I know [email protected] has been really busy lately so, I don't think it's up on his site yet. Sorry, if your interested in those parts you'll have to call him (949)340-6810 email me. FYI MyEvoStore.com and Motion Garage are the same.

Lastly, if you guys want custom valves for the uppers we've done a few. Greddy, HKS, and Tials.
