Hey Eugene! Fancy seeing you here ;) hehe! Welcome! :)

HAHA whatsup man, when I left the Celica thing, I dedicated 4-5 years into 4G63s. I still feel like a n00b because most of the hardcore DSM owners rebuild/build their own motors. I still want to build one up, but if the EVO IX can get 450AWHP with ease. Never mind that idea.

For current and ex-dsm owners.. how was the jump to an EVO? Was everythign similar? Familiar territory just mirrored image?

I came from owning 6 DSMs, from new 1995's to 100k+ 1990's then a WRX, and now the EVO.

The EVO is the best built car out of all of them. Picture a GVR4 but built even better. I have 23k miles, tons of track days, and I beat the living crap out of the car. Running almost 400hp. No rattles, nothing broken yet.

The EVO is totally different than DSMs, its a purpose built car and it shows. The engine is familar, as are some other things.

So far, it's the best car I have ever owned.

Also how are the STi's hanging with the EVO 9s?

Not sure as i dont race on street but im pretty sure someone here has had experience on time attack with an 06 sti.

The evo9 is a great car, fortunatly they added the mivec in there which helps out on the bottom end, im not a very technical guy, nor have I had experience in modding, but a test drive between my brother's modded 8 and my new 9, seems like the 9 picks up more at lower gears. thats my opinion :)

NO OVERHEATING PROBLEMS.

I had two fully modded DSMs. One 1g and one 2g. Each had a big a$$ FMIC that blocked the whole opening to the radiator. Both cars overheated from just regular freeway driving during hot summer days. Having the AC on made things worse.

Brakes and handling is what you'll get w/ the EVO. With the IX, you won't need to do any turbo upgrade and still have a lot of decent power and RESPONSE while being completely smog legal.

My EVO opened up the door to open tracking for me. The way my DSMs were setup would have never survived hot lapping.

I come from a long string of DSMs as well. Built much better than any of my 1G or 2G DSMs.

First time I drove an Evo I was amazed by it's quick steering and handling right off the bat. Just like a DSM, it takes to mods very well. I've only added a turboback exhaust, drop-in filter and AFC and already in the 12s. But then again, a 1G DSM would be in the 12s with the same mods (+FMIC, 550s). Coming from a 400whp DSM, power on my Evo 8 was not impressive stock. Easily curable though. On the road course, Evo is teh win.
