It's that time of year again...

we have an autocross event every weekend this month.

anyhow, this is the month where you solidify your championship lead (if your so lucky)

This weekends event will be at candlestick, one of my personal favorite sites 8)

Round 5 (http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/Results/2004/Championship/round5_info.html)

AS and ESP run 1st and 3rd respectivly.

Also NEW for this event, the SFR region is now testing out the new STU class.

STU runs 5th and if your in SM you run 8th.

In fact there are two autocrosses on Sunday: the SFR-SCCA one at Candlestick, and the NASA/X trial event at Altamont Motorsports Park; details here: http://www.geocities.com/nasa_autox/2004/nasa-1.html

I run 1st thing in the morning at Candlestick, so I may try to get over the Bay Bridge and out to Altamont by lunch and run the NASA/X event in the afternoon. Or I may head on over there just to check out this new venue.

The Lotus Elise is a euopean spec (2001 ??). Legal for sale in the US, but not street legal (track use only)

The owner has all the go fast goodies on it too, but never offers rides to passengers.

What kind of rims and tire size are on the red evo with the tirerack banner?

I may post vids of my friends co-driving my car as they're rather, um, entertaining. (I've never seen my Evo go into such severe power-on oversteer.)

Results are up: http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/Results/2004/Championship/round5.html

Looks like the Evos took a beating Sunday. :(

Dammit, I swear I had 2nd place; I guess someone screwed up writing down the results posted at the event.

On the bright side, I totally kicked that Skyline's ass: the two drivers' best times were 64.8 and 67.5 seconds (to my 60.4). :P

I don't believe it finally an event I don't have to drive around the world to get to. See yah at the Altamont if you come.
Did you go? I received this rather shocking bit of feedback about the event from Joe Harrison:

Altamont was ok. It was a weird arrangement with the oval track. It was dangerous with a concrete wall on the outside of the banked turns. The organizer of the event almost tagged it and eventually, someone did – destroying their Thunderbird in the process. It was fun, but I would never go back. It was a little disorganized. The surface was smooth and grippy, btw.
:jawdrop:
The last NASA-X event I attended--my very first autocross, last year at Marina--they had a late crossover on course but ran cars fairly close anyway, and as a result there was at least one incident when a car had to slam on the brakes to avoid t-boning the car ahead of it going through the crossover. Also, the event was somewhat disorganized and tech inspections were rather lax.

If you're interested, Joe says "contact Navid at www.xperformance.com He got the wheels for me and rolled the fenders to make them fit".

that's such a shame... NASA used to be better organized than SCCA events when they ran down @ marina. Hopefully they can find a better (and safer) site to run.
