As some of you may be aware I've been pretty quiet on the power mod front lately. Actually I've been rather busy. Having I fixed my timing problem, and having decided that the Evo would no longer serve as an autocross car (and so turbo lag wouldn't be an issue anymore), I made a few calls, got a few hook-ups and started fleshing out the engine a bit for track days and time trialing:
- 720cc Helix injectors courtesy of Gruppe-S
- 4G64 crank and stroker kit also from Gruppe-S
- Garett GT35R ball-bearing big turbo kit from ATP
- Cosworth 272/272 cams and head (mucho thanks WORKS!)
- and a few other bits

I bolted on everything as quickly as I could, slapped together some adjusted fuel and timing maps (thanks Bryan), and ran it very detuned at Willow Springs. This past week I spent hours tweaking the wastegate (if I have to do it again I think I'll go insane) as it was being outflowed a bit. Anyway yesterday I finally had the chance to put it on the dyno for some serious tuning (big thumbs-up to Mike @ Gruppe-S). We did a whole bunch of runs on it and after fixing some (what else is new) boost leak problems, we got everything tuned to a pretty decent conservative 100-octane tune. My goal was not only to make a good amount of power, but make it reliably (hence the Cossie pieces). And here's what we got:

Major thanks again to everybody I mentioned; I can't wait to take this out to Thunderhill in a couple weeks!

How about some driving impressions? Also, I heard you won the lottery and what's sex with Vida Guerra like anyway?

Yup, it's amazing; you wouldn't believe the things Vida will do in bed! :beaming: We made some videos; I'll post them up later...

WOW! Those curves are awesome! Looks like 370hp from 5k-7.3k rpm and 380ft-lb from 4.6k-7.5k! I have a feeling a lot cars at T-Hill are only going to see a big red Maple Leap blur go passed them!

I'd also like to say thanks to you and the many other experienced members of NCE would've posted their experiences on the forum. I've learned a lot and I'm sure I'll continue to do so in the future.

From one Canuck to another thanks again and good luck at T-Hill! :D

Yeah, Vida Guerra's curves are truly awesome. (Check your calendar BTW. ;))

(Someday, someday I will have Vida as my personal sexual plaything. And a 430 whp Evo. Hopefully in that order.)

but then again, it could be a april fools joke - a collabo of gruppe-s, works, cb tuning and whoever is involved ;)

cuz cosworth cams are not even out yet ;)

I think the best part of this set-up is the system you built to make the exhaust cam lift continuously variable and ECU+-controlled. And to think you improvised it with only paperclips and spare parts from a busted Cuisinart. Props.

I see ez76 is the only one with his thinking cap on today.

Happy April Fool's Day everybody! :nana:

I guess most people missed my Gruppe-S-style fine-print remark that said:

(Someday, someday I will have Vida as my personal sexual playmate. And a 430 whp Evo. Hopefully in that order.)

I knew it. Seriously... Tam doing major power mods and making 430hp.....too good to be true. Cossie cams was also dead giveaway.

Good april fools joke though!!!

Ok, thanks Tam for making me feel like an ass. I actually PM'd Bryan to ask him how the car felt.

So who's dyno chart did you use for that? I'll have to ask HIM for a ride. :D

It's a dyno chart from a dyno session I did at Gruppe-S last year. Doctored heavily using Photoshop, of course.

Nice one Tam.

If anyone could tune a GT35R to have those kinda curves they would be rich.

Not everything was untrue.
