Interesting thread. the author compares the effective brake torque of various different aftermarket big brake kits as compared to stock.

The results are not what you expect!

take this in mind

Bigger brakes without more power or more tire are pointless. You get increased thermal capacity (function of mass of rotor and increased capability to cool) which is always good. Better consistency and less fade are also good benefits. Increased clamping power isnt necessarily a benefit if you dont have traction to back it up though.

which is why when you go to ra-1's or some other r-compound tire, the stock brakes start to become a problem.

Puts a big break kit lower on the mods to come.

BBK are more for repeat hard braking. Like tracking your car. They shed heat better so less fade. If the only thing you change on your car is to put bigger brakes on there isn't going to be a big change if any in distants cause you still have the same contact patch. If you don't track your car BBK are just for bling.

:werd: not unless youre planning on doing a lot of track days you can opt for a BBK but for daily/fun runs just get a more aggresive pad with the stock brake system.

that is very true. plus when you have factory brembos its not like your brakes suck from the factory

*notice lack of caps, for the continuing lack of grammer 8)
