I know another thread about thoses damn HIDs. I have a non hid evo 9, I recently bought an OEM HID kit from evodave. Included in the kit are : Bulbs, ballast, harnesses, ETC. My questions are:

have any of you done this conversion using your non hid headlights?

do the bulbs fit?

should I just cough up an extra 600 $ and get the JDM ones  ?

Im off to evom :x to see if I can answer any of these questions on my own....

OEM as in OEM from the Evo with HID? The bulbs won't fit in your headlights as the projector housing is different.

You would need a HID bulb with a 9006 base to put into your housings. The ballast and wiring you can use.

hey ed, im doing that right now and the only problem you will encounter is "not to have the fogs on your headlights. I just bought the JDM evo IX headlights to Evo 8 and i am putting a 6000k HID to *a non HID headlights. This is what you need to check first:

1. you need H1 bulbs (im sure you evo IX bulbs are H1 coz evo 8 has H4)
2. you need to disassemble your headlights and check for the fog location if its not sealed
3. or call me 408-674-9071 and i will explain it to you..

You can "adapt" it to work. They sell 9006-based HID bulbs:
http://www.hidexpert.com/producthtml/9006_rebased_bulbs.html
Those will go into your headlight housings.

Then get some 9006 plugs:
http://www.hidexpert.com/producthtml/9006plug.html
Splice that into the two wires going into the ballast and you're set.

I think Im going that route. I talked to evodave and he said the HID bulbs could be modded to fit by modding the plastic on the bulbs, I would rather not do that. So if anyone want an OEM hid kit with fogs, bulbs shoot me a PM.

thanks guys.

but putting a hid blub in a non hid projector wont put out good results. why dont you try to get oem hid projectors so y ou can retrofit. thats the best possible solution. the projector in a hid is different in an non hid one.

I did the non-HID to OEM HID switch. SO much better than the stock halogen!
I also got my OEM HID parts from evodave and found a pair of HID headlights locally. Very easy to splice and wire it up however I never got around to hooking up the fogs.
