Hello I was hoping some of you tech. savy members could shed some light on how you
would break-In a 06 IX?? Some one i know has one with about 1,700 miles on it and
wants to do the 1st service now.I was telling him he might want to follow the manuel
for the 1st oil change at 5K to try to ensure the rings seat properly. Please give me some
input. Also wouldnt you say its probably not a good idea to redline the car on a reg. basis
during say the first 7k? Please give some input here as well as this car has seen 7K at
least a dozen or three times between 500-1,500 miles you know the I beat the woman
*in the bmw thing a few times. Thanks in advance for all your help. 8)

I changed my oil at 1200 miles. I tracked the car for its first time at 2500 miles. Beat on it ever since with 9+ track events. Compression was perfect last time I checked it at 25,000 miles. I am going to check it again when I get the transmission back in.

I changed my oil the first time a 1K.... didn't "race the car" or rev very high during that time....changed again at 3K...did the 3K thing for the first 25K ran perfect didn't burn any oil....now at 40K 12 track days countless canyon runs...it runs perfect and burns minimal oil at track days....I change the oil more frequently now..every track day and I figure its about every 1.5k now give or take.... I haven't had it compression tested but my last dyno back in May my car put down a healthy 330hp/ 335tq on 91 at 21psi with minor bolt ons...272 cams and an Xede / smart...... my car is an 03 so I don't know if this will help u at all with your 06..good luck with your break in!

Change the first oil at 600 right after the "break-in" period then again at 2500.* Then follow whatever the book says every 5000miles with additional motor oil changes at the 2500 marks in between.

redline the motor and drive it like you stole it.

Don't forget to rotate those tires if you want decent (by Evo standards) tire wear.
