What about the Bridgestone RE050s? I'm curious about these; their treadwear rating is 140--the minimum treadwear for SCCA auto-x "street tire" rules. I'm wondering if such a low treadwear rating translates to a more grippy compound.

So how do you like the PS2's compared to the stock advans? My main concern is losing the steering response since that's one of the things I like most about the EVO.

    Tam,

Is that the only tire you're considering? Here's a good thread talking about good motorsport tires. The Toyo RA1's seem to get too reviews and has a 140 treadwear rating.

The RA-1 is a competition radial ("r compound") and its UTQG treadwear rating is 40 not 140.

after looking at a few #' and reviews i really like the GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3 with longer tread than stock, and the Pirelli P Zero M+S all season tire with the best treadwear i've seen on a comparable tire so far. i'll probably be needing some by the end of the year.

I just put on a set of RA-1's today for a track day at thunderhill tommorrow, and the tread rating is clearly stated as 100.
Also, these things are NICE on the road. Much stickier than advans, with a SLIGHTLY softer sidewall. They are smother, so the car actually rides more comfortably, and they are quieter. For my next set of summer road tires I will be getting a nother set, 235-40-17, keeping them at full tread depth, and running them may-september. Will run my ES 100's in the winter, which is all they are good for in norcal.
