Thread: Nikon Capture NX or Photoshop CS3 and why?

Default Nikon Capture NX or Photoshop CS3 and why?

    For you Nikon users:

Which do you use to do any Post Processing and why?

I mostly use CS3, but I've played around a bit with Capture NX, and though it doesn't offer all of the great features of CS3, one thing I am really intrigued by is the white balance settings with adjustable control points, which I thought gave a tremendous amount of flexibility when doing PP. However, I found I was not able to import those settings into Photoshop after applying them in Capture, without saving the document as a .tiff, and thus losing the ability to do any further RAW workflow adjustments in CS3's Adobe Camera Raw program. I've also just recently started to use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, which seems excellent for creating a database and batch processing in raw, but again, lacks the extra features PS has.

However, other than that, I found Capture to be pretty cumbersome and confusing, (since it didn't come with a manual in the D300 box, and I'm too lazy to read through all the help info- heh).

What do you guys like better?

Added some D300 shots from Half Moon Bay as well :

i use photmatic for hdr merging, adobe lightroom for some processing and and photoshop cs3 mainly for processing i almost never use bundled software, not to say they arn't good programs its just cs3 is more widely used so its easier to get help or find tutorials for stuff... those pictures look great tho

    nice pics, chris.

Capture NX is a very difficult program to use, and photoshop supposedly is way better.
