Electrical. There are much more features available w/ electrical gauges such as, peak and hold, warning, playback. Electrical signals can be datalogged as well.
Mechanical gauges are usually cheaper though. There are certain mechanical gauges that should never be used in the cabin, such as oil and fuel pressure. If you spring a leak, you'll have a big mess/hazard in your car!
yes its a mess one time on my civic i have a oil press and its mechanical then someone who borrowed my car messed with it and boy do i got a messy dashboard!
Too bad there wasn't a vote created for this subject. I agree with Mark - having owned both, I prefer the feature set of the electrical gauges.
electrical by far superior, having oil lines going into the cabin of the car is not cool. Use to have that on a different car to keep oil psi check :?
