    im stupid. For some reason i cant figure out which way the filter is facing. Logically, it should be facing the front. Am i correct? Just doesn't look like it from the pictures.

    ^ looks like its facing the toward the drivers fender. a straight shot through the filter into the MAF sensor.

    Exactly its the best location, being directly across from the MAF, the only side large enough to fit a filter and hidden beside the fender.
