    Default Equipment Review: Tripods

Ok I'm feeling on a roll today for some reason. haha

I know a few of us here have tripods already and some others want input on them. So.... I guess your post with the tripod you're planning on "reviewing" and include tech specs (they can be copied from the manufacturer's webpage), main usage, and what's good/bad about it and pictures of the product if you got them.

Sound like a good idea? Iono just a thought. If this doesn't fly I can always delete. haha

    Promaster 2N

    standard 1/4” head thread sizes
    • Multi position legs for ultra low working heights
    • Deluxe professional finish
    • Includes carry strap and tool kit

    Tripod Base:
    • Maximum height 74.33” (center column extended)
    • Minimum height: 22.05”
    • Folded height: 23.62”
    • Leg diameter: 31mm
    • Weight: 5.07 lb.s

    Monopod Center Column
    • Maximum height: 68.11”
    • Minimum height: 21.65”

Sick tripod for the price. Rock solid, easy to use etc. Center section is a mono pod which is real handy to have. Only down side for some is that its pretty heavy. I like it being heavy cause the weight adds some stability.

The way I see it tripods are just like everything else, you get what you pay for. Sure some of the cheaper ones are built better then others, but in the long run they all pretty much crap.

    So far I've owned:
2 cheap tripod (will get names later) - Both Broken.

Manfrotto 3021BPRO with 488RC2 Head - Heavy and kind of long, but I think its the best bang for the buck (recently replaced by the 055XPROB)

Manfrotto 190XPROB with 488RC2 Head - I love the size of this tripod both extended and collapsed, but when using my Canon 70-200 its wasn't as stable as I'd hoped.

Manfrotto 190XDB with 390RC2BB head- Used for video and only for a week [ended up giving it to my Mom]. Its fine for small camcorder / cameras, but panning kind of sucked, and again with anything with some weight its kind of to unstable, but its very easy to use.

Gitzo GT-3541 with 488RC2 Head - Didn't really get to use this tripod as I ordered the wrong version, but from my in home test, this is by far the best tripod EVER.
