WORKS Spectacular Roll in Olympus Rally

On the verge of finishing its first Rally America event the WORKS Mitsubishi Evolution IX suffered a catastrophic rollover.

Sonoma, California – April 29, 2009 – Competing in their first Rally America event WORKS looked strong in practice with their Rally prepped EVO IX. The driver/co-driver team of Lars Wolfe and Michel Hoche-Mong got faster with each stage, while the WORKS Mitsubishi continued to give strong reliable performance. Toward the end of the event the WORKS team looked poised for a strong finish in the Super Production class. Known for being a particularly treacherous event the Olympus rally claimed another victim on the second to last stage. While attacking Stage 15 out of 16, the WORKS Mitsubishi caught an edge went into a spectacular roll. Both Wolfe and Hoche-Mong emerged from the car with hardly a scratch, but the rollover forced the car to retire from the event. The WORKS team is currently working around the clock to repair the damages in time for the upcoming Oregon Trail Rally in Portland, Oregon from May 15th -17th. As Lars entered a corner the car swung out wide and caused a rear tire to loose traction with the dirt and the end result was a bent evo. You can see the video on our website.
