I wanna know who makes the best alarm and radar detector for the buck? I've seen like clifford and viper. On the detectors like valentine and escort. Anybody have one and reccomend it?

Oh yea an other question, does the factory keyless entry have an alarm/vibration sensor?

i got clifford rs3.5/Escort 8500, remote control i have no problem with and looks nice, but ppl say Valintine is better then escort coz it shows u where the signal is coming from, but i still have no problem with my escort, everytime the Ka Band comes up i just drive slower, other band I shut it off coz is useless

I have the VIPER 6900,it's really good and come's with a two way pager.350.00 installed a circuit city was a good price too.As far as radar detectors go,I have a whisler,I know it's not the best but it's works good enough for me and warns me in time.$100.00 at best buy and it come's with a compass that comes in handy when I lose sence of direction.

I can't really recommend either because in my opinion, a radar detector will warn you when it's too late. :? A car alarm will not stop anyone if they really want the car. A alarm is just a deterrent. Also those two paging alarm is nice but is your car worth more than your life. Meaning, if someones mess with your car and the alarm pages you, what it the guy has a gun? Just me $.02

An alarm that alerts you when car is tampered with is good, especially when used in conjunction with Low Jack. That way, you don't need to confront anybody. Just dial 911 and give them your VIN, they punch it in the tracking system and BAM, there is your car on their screens. The police helicopters are set up to track your car too. With in a few minutes, the perp is busted and you got your car back.

As I recall, Clifford and Viper are the same company so the systems are basically the same. Certain stores carry one brand or the other. Get one of the upper end ones that allows it to function as a turbo timer (unless you already have one).

I have used Escort detectors for over 20 years, they have saved me innumerable tickets. The Valentine has proven to be the best over the years in all the tests I have seen, so if you got the money, buy it. Radar detectors work great, if you know how to read them.

Alarms- I know little about had a clifford in my jeeps stopped the cars from getting stolen but not my stereo gear.

Radar- Detectors...

One word Valentine...best range, easiest read out to decipher, tracks behind you. And Arrows, arrows, rock.

It is stupid expensive though.

EvoVIII did you hook up the remote start to your Clifford RS3.5?

I have the Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5...didn't hook up the turbo timer or the remote start, but it is still a great alarm. I like that little LCD screen :)

I have the Viper 791XV (I belive it is the same as Clifford 3.5) with pager and tt. I hooked everything up but didnt bypass the clutch or the coded key so it cannot remote start. Just remeber an alarms main job is to make noise when something happens. Yeah if your pager goes off telling you the door is open I wouldnt suggest running outside (although it is prob what I would do myself) I would suggest calling 911, but 2 of my friends have the same alarm and were in the store when their shock sensors went off because someone backed into their car, without the pager it would have been a hit and run so at least they got the insurance to fix it.

As for radar dectectors I am still also trying to decide on one if any.

If you want the viper pager with tt (cant hook the remote start option up in stick though) i can get it for you for about 400 installed. If anyone is interested pm me.

Valentine hands down. The people from gumball 3000 use this radar detector.

The "tt" you mention is not a turbo timer, but a delayed arming timer, is this not correct? You still need a tubo timer to let the car run and cool down unattended, that is what the local Clifford retailer told me over the phone. But I have had another shop tell me that it is a "turbo timer", so at this point I'm confused and think I'll send an email to Clifford/Viper to get some clarification.

I hope this isn't going to turn into another 8 phone call journey like it took to find out the Evo does not have the same roof mounting points for bike racks as a Lancer (but a trunk rack fits under the wing).

I bought the Valentine One radar detector the same week I bought the Evo and it has saved me countless times. I couldn't comment other makes as it's the first unit I've ever bought. I went by all the reviews and comparisons on the web (just google it ...)

I was worried about the high price to begin with but now feel entirely justified in spending the money.

I feel naked when driving either of the other two cars we have without the V1.

Spend the money and know you've got the best avaliable.
