I was wondering anyone here use two different ECU on an EVO for tuning?? Just said one of the ECU is for 91 octane tune and the other ECU is for a race tune of 100 octane or higher?? If you are DD, you can use the ECU with the 91 octane map and if you are using 100+ octane at the track, then you can switch to the other ECU with the 100+ octane tune.

If you have a laptop, it would be easier to just reflash 91 and 100 octane maps to one ecu. Or wait until the COBB Accessport comes out for the Evo.

We have a bunch of our customers doing the first thing.

^ it works like a laptop in your palm...... you hook the acces port up to your laptop (or your tuners) and then you load different maps onto it. from there you hook that up to the obd II port and load the maps directly from that!!!! very simple.

here is a link to there website

its a bit more in depth than my explanation but i think you get the jist. my sister has one for here sti and i believe she has 4 or 5 diferent maps she chooses from

wow, I'll have to get one of those. I'd love to be able to reflash before a warranty issue :-p

the ap won't be compatible with freeware ecuflash stuff :[

you must use the cobb software...

$700... I'd rather buy a laptop and a tactrix cable for under $600.

I have 2 ECUs but wasn't able to get both working at the same time. I had the Mitsubishi dealership key the second ECU to my car, but after they did, the original ECU stopped working. I've tried using ECUFlash to update the security code in the old ECU to the same one as in the newer ECU, but that didn't seem to help--car won't fire up on the old ECU.

I hear if you swap the 2 immobilizer wires the car will start up. Anyone try this yet?

Probably not the case as this would be a major failing of the immobilizer system design.

He's right. And your tuner can't even watch porn on an AccessPort.

jk :D

There is no reason to go to the dealer to get a additional ECU working in a Evo.

All you need to do is make sure the new Ecu has your original Immobilizer code in it. You can do this with Ecuflash. You can have ten ecu's laying around with the same immobilizer in them.

I actually just made sure I was 100% correct and went down to the garage and grabbed the spare ecu I had bought off the shelf. I swapped the harness plugs from the ECU in the car and plugged it in the new Ecu, grabbed the rom off the new ecu and input my original immobilizer code in it.

Car started right up. Then I disconnected the new ECU and plugged back in my original ECU. Car started right up.

so back to ap bryan... is there a way to dl the map onto access port? or it doesn't even work like that huh? you can't take stuff off the rom you can only put stuff on. and the only way to put stuff on ap is to use the cobb softwares :[ ??? amirite?

The accessport pulls your original rom during the marrying process. The only way to access the cobb accessport is through their software. Currently only basemaps exist on the unit. The PROtuner software is coming for the Evo and then full custom dyno tunes can be done using the Cobb Accessport.

yar... so ecuflash would become rather useless right?

we need to make a black box for ecuflash, or get it to work with a palm pilot, or make laptops smaller.
