I'm not sure if this has been covered, but can someone verify what you turbo sounds like when it spools. For me when my Evo hits 3K on the revs, i hear a whistling sound. I always heard this ever since i bought the car brand new, however when i was talking with someone this past week, they were saying that they never heard this sound before and only recently did they begin to hear it on their Evos? I was wondering if my Evo has a leak somewhere in the pipings and is that why its making a whistling noise when it spools? However, i do believe thats what a turbo sounds like, the whistling sound. Can anyone comment on this fascinating issue.

Gawd that is so RICE. Possibly worse than those chrome hubcaps with the spinny-thing.

Upon further reflection, maybe "rice" isn't the right term. There's a marked distinction between the "upgrades" I would consider "rice"--e.g. fat ("phat"?) tailpipes, Type R badges, aluminium wings, LEDs, non-OEM HID lights--and things like tailpipe whistles and spinny chrome wheels. In my observation the latter seems to appeal--though by no means exclusively--to, shall we say, a certain demographic group of the population. Do you think the term "hooptie" is more appropriate? I also considered "bling-bling" but the latter still carries some positive connotations, none of which I would associate with these types of mods.
